Androgynous pirate models

  • I’d love to see some more androgynous pirate models, recently I used an appearance potion on my insider account (hope that’s fine to say) and I was sifting through the options trying to find a model whose gender felt more flexible. I couldn’t seem to find one that felt fluid I guess? I picked a male model and tried to dress it feminine and noticed that even a clean shaven male pirate will always have scruff. maybe I should try a lady pirate and dress them masculine but I’m not sure that would work any better.

I like to think an easy fix would be to use the same body models but to add more variety to the heads as iv also noticed some commonality between face shape and gender on the pirate models. But realistically it seems like a hard thing to do, adding more base models to a game that is primarily cosmetic focused sounds like a lot of work.

I know that myself and a whole huge community would be over the moon about this kind of change and i feel it would push SoT to the forefront of inclusive gaming.

  • @cosmicglitch oh boy, this is a loaded topic, this could get ugly quick.

The pirate generator is fine as is in my opinion, it's a first person game so luckily you dont actually have to see your character. Just don't be picky.

Don't forget it's a video game, you don't have to base your character of yourself. Not to mention gender fluidity wasn't a thing during the age of piracy. You did have characters like Ann Bonney who dressed like a man but I feel that was more for intimidation.

  • Honestly, if looks are important to you, it will definitely take a significant time investment in the character generator (depending on your luck)

Took me 100 generations to find the "perfect" combination of face/teeth/body/legs for me. I kept 2 to 4 favorites as I was generating, and would remove or replace one or two as I went along and found better ones closer to what I was looking for. Only reason I even invested more than 3 minutes into choosing a look is because I often use poses, etc, for making videos and such. I don't regret my choice, but your mileage may vary.

Female models are easier to work with for your desired goal. Skinny to average build will almost always look androgynous, and if you are lucky enough to get a good face/head shape, you're all set. You can customize hair, clothes, etc later.

  • I would say just keep scrolling. I think you will eventually find the pirate you are looking for. I say eventually because it may take hours but worth it if you are happy in the end.
