Cross path with suspected crew

    Hi everyone,
    i'm still new, so i hope i post this at the right topic.

    Yesterday or last night (around 23.00 - 02.00)

    our crew accidentally cross path with another crew,
    we got ship fight, and then our ship got stuck together side by side. and then suddenly unlimited fire ball throwed at us, and eventually we died of course. there are more suspicious think happened, but the obvious one is the fire ball that keep coming to us.

    me and my crew (currently 12 persons in total) played sea of thieves for around 40++ hours, and we like this game very much, the adventure, the quest, the riddle, the fight between npc, between another crew, etc.

    but if in the future we keep meeting this kind of crew, i'm afraid the excitement will wear off.

    at first we didnt think that anyone will cheat in this game, because there are no rank, no competitive whatsoever.

    we hope Rare developer will solve this issue.

    @xinomed18 what is unlimited, i have had times where i had 100~200 fireballs, blunderbombs and chainshot because we just hoard them like crazy.

    A crew you meet can be on the server for a long time so they can have alot more supplies then you

    what i mean unlimited is, we fight with them, at first everything seems normal, some of their crew come at us, and some of us also going to them, and we threw each other with cannon ball and fireball like usual.

    but after 2 of them died, and 1 of us died, suddenly the cannon ball keep coming with the fireball at the same time, making the top of our ship all in fire, we do the same to them, and we need to reload our fireball and cannon ball, but the fireball keeps coming from them even though its only two of them (one of them firing the cannon ball).

    i know that we are still newbie in this game, and we never had 100~200 fireballs in our ship, but this is the first time that we had that kind of experience.

    we also have meet other crew before, and sometimes we win, sometimes we lost, we didnt think much about it, because even though we lost and we lose our treasure, we can do the quest all over again, doesnt matter, that the excitement in this game.

    but in this fight, its totally different.

    if what i posted seems not that important to the community of this game, its fine, i just want to give some feedback to developer, to please take a look at this kind of issue. because personally i like this game very much.

    if the developer said that this game is not possible for cheater.
    we will accept everything weird that happen in the future.

    I've left storage crates with 500 cannon balls 100 firebombs ext totally possible to have endless firebombs. In a 4 hour session I'll have at least 50 leftover.

    Not only is this legit and possible, they could of also had all those firebombs and cannon balls all in a storage crate right next to the cannons as all good crews tend to do.

    Any kind of cheating in this manner by the way would involve server sided manipulation which is 100% impossible with Sea of Thieves. Any attempt to do so would almost certainly invoke an instant ban of any accounts involved as these are Microsoft servers and they take cyber security pretty seriously.

    @kommodoreyenser finally a legit answer

    so it would be 100% impossible to cheat in Sea of Thieves, because it needs to manipulate the server right!? and if any attempt to do so, it would almost get an instant ban.

    as you guys can see, this guys legit can see things that you're not supposed to see

    @xinomed18 I'm really not trying to be mean at all but most crews that go to island to island constantly getting supplies are normally not that great. Were you doing PvE? Because normally just playing the game and stopping at barrels at every island on your voyages can stock you up pretty well. I used to run reapers before I maxed out & we would stock up from the outpost and maybe 1 other outpost if that/make sure we never missed floating barrels and we never ran out of supplies and would end with 500+ resources, especially wood.

    What I'm trying to say is make sure you're not investing 90% of the time going to barrels so you can be upset about 10% of the time of PvP. I became PL without ever stocking my boat except for what was filling my pockets at the tavern (solo sloop).

    Most players I've encountered that go from skull fort to skull Fort stacking supplies but when PvP comes around they get destroyed and rage quit. I'm not a big Arena enthusiast but your crew should hop on arena and just practice. Make sure you work on cannon combat first to make sure you dont allow enemies that close.

    I've come across a lot of parked galleons that I can tell are new because they have their anchor down with sails down still and I'll roll by on a sloop, shoot four firebombs then start shooting their bottom deck. Sure I might take a few holes but repairing a sloop is easy enough that I just keep shooting cannon balls until they're pretty much sunk. That's when I drop my sails, pull out my fishing rod, and say "Its a small catch!".

    Moral of the story is experienced players can spot new players, make sure you dont buy your sails or try to look too flashy. If your boat looks nice but you're not great players you're asking to get robbed with little ways to defend yourself.

    yes i saw some of the video just now,
    and its clearly showing that people can use cheat in Sea of Thieves,
    but mr @KommodoreYenser said its 100% impossible to cheat in Sea of Thieves.

    so i think my concern to Sea of Thieves is not that important.

    There have been about 5 updates since that video, might be still possible might not be, i'm sure they like to keep up with it.. Constant game of catch up I would think..

    @wagstr ow i see, well i just hope this game update fast enough to keep up with the cheats, i'm new here so i have high hopes for this game.

    @xinomed18 yeah, you can clearly see from that vid, but like wagstr said, it's already 5 patches after that. maybe the one that you encounter is new cheats?

    yes, we are doing PvE for quest Tall Tale when we attacked.

    thank you for your reply and your feedback on how to play better in Sea of Thieves.

    we already played several times (because there are 12 of us), and we also already experiencing PvP which is in my opinion is very great because we are playing a random experience gameplay. its what excite us to play the Sea of Thieves, because its like real experience to be a pirate.

    but yesterday fight is very unreal, we never encounter a battle like that, the fight last quite long, but after 10 - 15 minutes, when 2 of them died, the fireball keep coming, and the canon ball too.

    we did the same, we throwing what we can, and we of course using the crate beside our cannon (so we dont need to go to downstair to reload) but the fire keep coming like crazy until the top of our ship all covered in fire.

    thats why, i try to share my experience, trying to reach Rear developer hoping that, if in some way its possible as a player to cheat, hopefully Rare developer can minimize it.

    thats what i'm trying to say.

    @xinomed18 I didnt see what you saw but it could be possible that they had an alliance with another crew and all had firebombs/when someone ran out of firebombs or cannons they were rotating who is on cannons efficiently. The ability to fire firebombs right after cannons though is something you can do on x box by pressing RB while on cannons you can switch to different weapons to shoot out.

    Sometimes you just meet crews that are so well drilled you would put money on the fact they are cheating. You have only got to watch how many times some streamers are accused of cheating in voice chat because they are just so good.. Crews like this are thankfully few and far between in general.

    we will keep playing too, hopefully we can play better and better as we play Sea of Thieves.

    @xinomed18 he didnt say its 100% impossible to cheat in sot, he said “this kind of cheat”

    There are cheats that are possible (which im not going to discuss) however any cheat that requires the server to do stuff (e.g. shooting cannons, inventory manipulation) is impossible because it would have the cheaters mess with the code on the servers which is impossible

    sounds like they just had a lot of people on cannons at you. Unlucky man sometimes you come across crews like that. It's rare and I doubt it'll happen to you again for a bit.

    I believe you ran into a boat that had a lot of supplies, if you can find a storage crate it makes stocking very easy and you can gather a ton of resources. They probably had like 50 firebombs in a crate and we're meme'ing by spamming them (my crew and I have done this before)
