Key bindings in SoT are so broken that I made a whole video about it, pls fix!

  • Also here is a summary of proposals presented in the video:

-Remove “Secondary Interact” as a whole and replace its action with better alternatives (like extending a chest to sell it)

-Allow the equivalent of an universal “disengage” button on keyboards

-Reverse the brightness on the mouse button prompts for better clarity

-Allow crates to be opened with a quick tap of “Interact” and picked up with a short hold

-Potentially remove or shift the location of the rowboat seat above the storage area

-Allow “Equipment Clusters” that can be customized and have a button assigned to cycle through them. Multiple nested radial menus should not be considered acceptable ux design.

  • I kinda covered most of this with this topic:
    [https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/125080/a-few-small-suggestions](A few small suggestions)

I like the universal button, and the secondary... but the application of them is poor.

    It should be;

    • Universal Pick up / Interact
    • Universal Operate

    I.e
On PC; F is universal, and R is secondary.

    • F should pick up the chests, and sell them. Pick up items, or place them. Turn on/off lights. (So, your typical stuff remains mostly the same)
    • R should open chests, close them. Open barrels, close them. Sit on seats, climb on boats / ladders etc.
(So, rowboats become operated with R, not F. Ladders change from F to R. Accessing Barrels changes from F to R... and accessing chests remains on R).

I should clarify, from a keybind perspective though, the only problem I have is the rowboat seat, and occasionally when pushing a rowboat, I turn the lamp on/off...

  • @iim-stevo Strong agree :)
