Spectator mode

  • It would be cool if there was a spectator mode feature basically you can join a random server or the server that your friend is on. You can also join arenas too. Basically you move normally 4 times faster than a sprinting player, you can also move slow as slow as a player, and you can enter ultra sonic speed, this can be used to get around the world easily. Spectator mode is really good for capturing battles because of its record mode (pretty self explanatory). There is also ghost mode, basically you are the same as a normal player however you are invisible immortal and u cannot access your weapons items and you cant even talk, and you cant fly either, ghost mode is for getting a crewmans view of whatever is happening. Spectator mode is pretty good at capturing all types of battles, kraken megs and everything like it, that is why there is a list of all the pvp battles bosses and world events happening in the top right corner of your screen that you can toggle on and off you can select one of these to teleport to. This list also includes battle from different servers, so its a pretty big list that is why you can select what you want on the list, you can type in kraken if you want a kraken fight or megalodon (or meg) if you want a megalodon fight, you can even type in pvp if you want a ship to ship fight. You can even type in skeleton fort, fleet EVEN FLAME HEART.

  • @honeysito I join a friend's Adventure game as a ghostly spectator - I then fly around and spy on the other ships and their activities while relaying this information to my friend via XBL messages, party chat, or phone call. I'd be the ultimate non-crewmate.

    Broken idea is broken.

  • So, now you wouldn't even have to bother with playing the game.

You could soak up all the bandwidth, and induce lag, by just being a looky-loo.

Some pirates will do anything to avoid pvp.

  • @honeysito this would enable something like the term we use in our ttt server on gmod called

(ghosting) which one dead teammate speectates the map and tells his friend where the terrorist are and who is the terrorist

in this game it would be used to find people and let their friends know what voyage they're on and what treasure

  • @honeysito Yes on custom servers, no on Live servers. Way to easy to be abused. However, I do think that custom servers should have custom camera options.

  • Id rather watch SOT on twitch than a spectator mode.
Those streamers work pretty hard. You can also learn a thing or two if they are particularly friendly and talkative.

If all you want to do is spectate I fully agree, Beardageddon, and Phuzzybond are great to watch for slooping tips, both really good players. There are more I know but it depends on your playstyle.

Beard also regularly sails with Boxyfresh and Phuzzy sails a lot with his wife Jackie.

  • @honeysito This would be a cool idea for custom games. The problem I see with this power in a public lobby is the fact that a friend could join the same server, and tell them everything about every ship on the server; what loot they have, what emissary grade they are, etc.
