Video resolution issue

  • I launch Sea of Thieves through Steam.

I normally play in Windowed Mode. I don't actually know if the "Fullscreen Resolution" setting in the game affects anything when you're in Windowed Mode but I believe it was set to "Native" resolution. I had the Game Window filling up most of my screen, but not all of it. I have a 27" monitor that supports 2560x1440. Looking at the screenshots I've taken lately (which include the top window border) the window size was 2395x1348.

I was playing earlier and I hit a crazy lag spike. I pushed some buttons (not sure what) and all of a sudden the game went into Fullscreen mode and stopped lagging. No big deal, I'll just revert back to Windowed mode. Only now when I did this the Window was much smaller, 1280x720. Everything was very small. I tried messing around with the "Fullscreen Resolution" setting but nothing would change the size in Windowed Mode. I tried alt+tabbing and grabbing the corner of the application and resizing it that way (which I believe is how I got the window size previously), but the window refuses to resize.

Also, when I am Fullscreen, toggling through the different resolution options doesn't seem to change the look of the game at all.

I have rebooted several times since this happened and I am still unable to resize the game window.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • so.. you can't physically expand the window by dragging the corner of it?
i would recomend 3 things because im not sure what the issue would be.

. try hitting f11 while in either fullscreen or windowed mode. and then try resizing?

.there is an option in the settings called "resolution upscaling" make sure it is at 100% no more, no less

. make sure your not on borderless windowed mode and instead on just "windowed" mode when trying to drag the corner.

let me know if none of these work

  • @butterpig01 WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU PLAY IN WINDOWED MODE THAT CREATES UNHEALTHY AMMOUNTS OF INPUT DELAY!!!

  • Also press alt and enter to enter full screen, then modify your res from there and press alt and enter once more.

  • @VORXET I play in fullscreen. I'm am not depicting what I play with, I am trying to provide assistance on the issue. I am aware that it does, especially with v-sync on. (also why u judging me for windowed mode when OP is the one who uses it)

also good response. this doesn't work for me but my windows key binds have always been screwed up so more than likely works for the OP.

  • @butterpig01 oh bro i dont really know i wasnt paying attention lol. i'm not from these waters ye ol sailorrrr, try the rusty pot tavern ayreee
