Hello.
I am getting some exceptionally poor performance from the game given my hardware, and I'm hoping someone can provide some insight as to why.
First, my specs (desktop rig):
Ryzen 2700x
GTX 1660 Ti
32 GB of 3200 MHz memory
NVMe SSD for the game directory
Running the Steam edition, if that makes any difference, although I wouldn't suppose it does.
So right from the get-go I cranked all the settings up to max, based on recommended specs and all that. I play at native 1440p with a 75 Hz monitor. Now, occasionally I will see the FPS shoot up to 75 or more, even hitting 90+ from time to time, but most of the time it's hovering at exactly 37/38. I don't know why those exact two numbers, but that represents about 85-90% of my play time.
If I put all the settings at Cursed, I maintain a solid 75+ at all times. I can start turning settings up to max, one at a time, without seeing any change in FPS at all, until I get to the final two settings. Doesn't matter which two, but for the final two, when I start turning them up, my FPS starts going down until it settles at 37/38. Once I hit that, turning settings down again doesn't actually change the FPS until everything gets down to Cursed again. Even those final two, whichever they were, immediately turning them back down doesn't restore the framerate. Changing my resolution to 1080p does not change the framerate under any circumstances.
For comparison, my buddy plays on his laptop, rocking a 1080p screen, a 9th gen i7 hexacore, and a mobile 1660 Ti (about 20% slower overall than the desktop version I have) and says he never sees his FPS drop below 60 with all settings maxed out.
I really don't know what's going on here, or how to fix it, so I will greatly appreciate any insight or tips.
