Doing the ledger after the first set of sails is pretty pointless so I thought of an idea to make a ancient coin reward. It wouldn't be much, maybe only 50 for the grand tier meaning even if you did all 5 ledgers you would only get 250 and thats with alot of time spent. Just a little incentive and it means rare don't have to spend time making new sails for the ledger rewards. Also leads to much more people using the emmissary system, leading to much more competition within the ledger.
Ancient coin reward for emmissary ledger
@schwammlgott said in Ancient coin reward for emmissary ledger:
@reyaxe it's not that pointless...there is an achievement to get to high tier 5 times...
Anyway, I would prefer more ship parts, not just the sails
We get updates every month for free, buy ancient coins if you want them, Rare deserves something for theyr workyes but not game ship sets but ip ship sets that rare thinks up should be in the shipwright shop at the outposts

Wouldn't it ? There are now approx. 200.000 people in the top tier; 50 each is 1 million ancient coins. What is it ? 10 dollars per 1000 coins ? Thus $10.000 would Rare give away ...
Of course "everybody" would now join the emissaries making it much more of a loss for Rare.
@lem0n-curry Possibly, that's definitely one way to look at it. On the other hand, I look at it as that is money that those players might not have spent anyways. On an individual level, that really isn't a whole lot. Plus, 50 coins doesn't have to be a hard limit. Let's say 25 coins for each max completion. It's not a lot of return for effort, but at least the effort is something that can be fun to do, so it might be enough of an incentive to have people participate.
On another note, the math would actually come out to 250 coins per person, assuming they finished all five tiers. So, that is quite a huge loss. But again, that might not have been money they would have spent. And (for some silver lining), there might be some lads who buy some coins so that they could buy something they couldn't have afforded with just those 250 coins. Perhaps it evens out? Maybe it's something to try for a month and see what happens.
@xg12im12eaperx
It's a loss each and every month; e.g. I buy emotes, flags and an occasional figurehead when it's on sale and also some charity stuff. I will be easily in the top tier in 4 emissaries solo (and with some crew mates who might be motivated perhaps all 5). That would be 200 coins each month I won't have to buy.I won't be buying more stuff just because I get the free coins each month, I will be spending less on ancient coins as I have to buy them less frequently.
People who now don't or can't buy ancient coins wouldn't be buying extra because the 250 (more motivated) won't buy an emote set - they'll wait another month to get top tier again and then buy it.
@lem0n-curry Depends. Some will wait and just save up. Others will spend some extra because they were motivated to buy now due to them essentially buying at a discount.
Again, 50 coins doesn't have to be a hard limit; we could try less. Also, again, we could simply try it for one month. And if it's too much of a loss, scrap the idea. Rare is not going to hurt much for taking a loss for one month. They are backed by Microsoft. They will be fine.@xg12im12eaperx That would ruin the economy that's 250 ancient coins per month which would completely remove the need to buy ancient coins as it would be over 3000 per year and it ruins the whole "I got a ancient skeleton and got some coins." They don't have to give you free coins but they give you RNG luck every single time your on a island.
@j0hnfrum I don't think you read my follow up posts. I said the 50 coins per emmisary shouldn't be considered the hard limit; lower could be considered. I also said it could be tried for a month to see what happens. Do it as a special promotion and if Rare could work it properly where they made more than they lost, then great. Maybe make it a regular thing. If not, no biggy, scrap the idea.
@xg12im12eaperx You see I just don't think ancient coins should be a reward as it just lowers the value of buying them from rare you can already RNG find it they don't have to do this but asking for more shouldn't be a thing.
@j0hnfrum Asking for more will always be a thing. Whether we will actually get it is quite a different story, Now lets face it, Rare is not going to go with this idea, ever, at least as something on a regular basis. I could see them doing something like this as a special event as we have already seen an event that distributed ancient coins as a reward.
But look, we are talking hypotheticals here. We will really never know if it would ruin the Ancient coin economy until it's tested and a one-time deal will not ruin anything. It's a matter of how much money they spend/lose to see how much money they would make in return doing a promotion like this. We can speculate all day, but we won't know if the net will be positive or negative until it's tested.
@lem0n-curry well it could be alot less. Maybe like 10-20. Suppose you could then argue what would be the point but I just want a bit more of a reason to compete within the ledger
