Visible fog at edge of map

  • Maidens voyage you see the red hue fog encasing the sea of thieves.

It would be nice to see subtle red hue as you get nearer the world borders inside the sea of thieves.

I just feel like I shouldn't be able to see the shores of gold from North of the devil's roar but you can.

It's strange how it just happens out of nowhere. It would be nice to see the fog and adjust your course accordingly.

I don't think it's transparent deliberately to make you check your map. The map gets checked often anyways so it doesn't make a difference.

But I just think it would add a bit tension, getting chased by a ship and seeing the seas get foggy then seeing the red fog outside.

    Tension and immersion :)

It's the kind of thing I'd expect a modder to make for the game.

  • You can actually see the shores of gold without the shroudbreaker? Lol they need to fix that.

  • @daringclarky The blood red sky, water, and creepy music not enough for you?

  • As nice as this sounds, and it certainly would provide 'immersion', I think this might ruin the aesthetic when you're around islands near the edge of the map.

It is yes... But it's not a shroud is it?
The Lore in the SOT comic books describes it as a fog that eats wood and flesh. There is no shroud at all in the game. Just a red water.

I think it would be quite aesthetically pleasing near the borders if its anything like how it looked in maiden voyage. However it could work in a similar fashion as the wind does where its only visible whilst on a ship if it would be an issue whilst on land :)
