Skeleton ships are too tanky

  • Man it seems to be getting harder and harder for sloops to sink skeleton ships. takes about 30-40 hits to sink some. more if its a galleon. I think skeleton ships should go back to using the old ship damage system. the small holes are just too slow to fill skeleton ships. every canon hit should be a medium hole at minimum maybe more. just seems silly to sit their laying so many shots into a skeleton sloop when in the past 10 goot shots on a ship as it comes up would be enough to finish it off

  • @magus104 What was the old system?

  • @magus104 you might not be hitting them properly. I think that it is too easy and goes too fast, i wish it was harder........ 20-30 sec untill they sink...

The old system th OP is refering too is the old damage model. Every ship is a grid system of square panels, originally whenyou hit that square of the ship it will put one hole in that ship equalent to the medium hole we have now. Repeated hits to the same square do no additional damage. Now there is 3 stages of holes where repeated hits to the same square incease the stages of holes with a chance to damage nearby squares.

Not sure why OP thinks the old system was better as each consecutive hit on the same spot use to do no additional damage.

I find sinking skell ships as a solo sloop incredibly easy and you get supplies back from sinking them. So i donpt see an issue wasting 30 CB to sink a skalleon when you get 30 back plus a storage creat, wood and food.

  • Skelly Sloops still easy.. usually 10 shots. Skelly galleons only kill You solo if you get knocked off, hit by cursed cannon balls, or shot in the head by a canon ball. No time to bail while on the ferry of the damned.

Galleons are actually a little bit harder now solo. It’s the risk playing solo.

But the skelly fleet destroy themselves on the rocks where the spawn.

On a side not if you have to take a break for a minute or two to walk away from the game your dead.
I parked next to a rock sails up then I went to the bathroom and came back. As I was sitting down on the couch to grab the controller I saw a galleon spawn right next to me and was pretty much sunk as they got the Jump on me in game...lol

If you're having trouble sinking skeleton ships, I would reccomend having 1 of your crewmates go board the ship and guard the holes. That way you only need about 5 cannonballs to sink them since they can't repair the holes in time.

. every canon hit should be a medium hole at minimum maybe more.

It already is, cannon hits will always give a tier 2 hole (medium) The only time that a tier 1 hole is given is if you gently touch the sand bank of an island, or slowly crash into something. But if a cannonball hits your ship, it will always deal a tier 2 hole (medium)

Edit: A chainshot also produces a tier 1 hole.

Additionally a chian shot does a tier 1 hole.

  • Don’t wanna be rude, but it takes me about 20 for a sloop and 40/50 for a galleon. You just gotta spam quickly so they don’t repair. Give them lots of holes in a small window.

  • @isaacmarteen13 That is true. Also use firebombs or a gunpowder barrel to make them sink faster

  • @magus104

Just recently sunk a skeleton sloop with 8 shots, no idea what you are doing wrong...

The only issue atm is that the galleons tend to 'retreat' just before they are about to sink and leaving you without any of the loot.

  • Some are easy, some aren’t. There was a time where me and my friends had just sank a galleon with a jackpot load of loot and we got skelly shipped. It was a galleon and after 1 mega keg, 1 regular keg and about 40 cannons, it finally sank. It cost us all the loot, lol.
