So I get my drink and a snack and get set to go on another adventure. After a long day of work, I'm pumped. I stock up on supplies, place a nifty voyage with four skele captains and head out to sea. Almost immediately a skeleton sloop surfaces and immediately starts firing. Cool. More loot I suppose. Oh, wait. A meg spawns, too. In fairness it does attack both ships. I'm not that good at aiming so once I sink the skele ship, the meg turns on me. Well at this point I'm about out of supplies so I high tail it to a nearby island to re-stock.
So finally I get to the island I need for my voyage and have a great time seeking out the skele crews. A huge number spawn all around me and I'm jungling skeles with guns and skeles with kegs. Suddenly I see another player at the corner of my screen heading to my ship. Dude, can you back off and not do that now? I get a sword dash charged up and a skele keg spawns in front of me. My dash hits it and I die.
By the time I respawn, that other player had taken what little treasure I had, set my ship on fire, and set it out to sea to hit some rock. Now before you shout me down with, "But it's called Sea of THIEVES, bro" stop it. I had one skull when the other player raided my ship while I was distracted with a wave of exploding skeles. It took ZERO skill for him to do what he did. He happened to see me stop by the island and decided to check it out.
Sometimes I just want to play the game. It's a game, remember? It's not supposed to be a perfect simulation of piracy in the West Indies. Sometimes I just want to play a game without other players ruining my fun. I'd KILL for a choice of PVE or PVP server like WoW has.
Has there been any comment about this from Rare? How many other games like this FORCE everyone into PVP?
