I would like to know because when I disconnect everything I have gotten disappears, bullets for the cannon, food, wood, all the chests with gems that I have stored, etc.
I was with my friend and today was our first day in the game and when I wanted to end the day I had a question, if we disconnected and re-created a group and entered the game again, would the loot disappear? and indeed, everything I got except for the gold and the level with the merchants disappears. Someone tell me why that happens

Loot, it needs to be cashed in not hoarded.
As for ship skins, you just have to put them back on every new session. You start at a new/same outpost :pWelcome to the Sea of Thieves!
As others have said, the game is session-based; every time you join a server you load in with a brand-new ship at a random outpost (with a few exceptions). It's a clean slate, there for you to do what you want with it.
Because of this, any treasure or other loot items you find, as well as resources don't persist; when you log out, it all disappears. What your supposed to do is take treasure items and sell them to the Trading Company they belong to; that's the only way you can guarantee yourself earning gold coins and reputation.
On top of that, it'd be a little too powerful if people could load into a server, fill up their ship with resources, then start jumping from server to server with a fully-stocked ship, looking for trouble.
