Non-PvP Server

  • There's plenty of times I'm trying to do tall tales or some other story quest where me and my crew have to go into a cave or some other area that isn't easy to run back to our boat and another crew just rolls up on us to destroy the boat because no one is on it just because we are trying to do a quest. Long boss battles like Capt. Briggsy that can take upwards of 100 cannonballs for an item to then lose that item because our boat was sunk since we ran out of supplies is really frustrating. Even just trying to do simple things like earning rep for Hunter's Call (Fishing/Cooking) is frustrating while you're being attacked. I just want to fish and not be bothered!

So as a solution, it would be nice to have a PvE or non-PvP servers even if it's locally hosted to be able to do quests and/or build rep with a reward penalty. Like 20-30% less xp, rep or money/doubloons for those of us who want a more relaxed experience with friends to have some fun and earn some rewards without the fear or stress of worrying about losing everything from 1 battle. AI controlled encounters like megs, ghost ships and the kraken can also have an increased chance of attacking on non PvP servers to make up for the lack of other players.

We have an Arena for hyper PvP kind of battles, it would be nice if we had the opposite too and had a relaxed server. Something like Atlas where there are PvP worlds and non PvP worlds. I feel that having a non PvP server with a reward penalty and higher PvE chance is pretty fair.

Also a non PvP server where we can invite friend crews to do something like the Flameheart’s Flagship event with all the ghost ships, the megalodon (when it first came out) or anything in the future where you need more then 1 crew to complete it would be a lovely edition to the game. I've seen streamers try to setup community events like races, obstacle courses, treasure hunt races and other events to bring in more people into the game and having a local or non PvP server would make doing that kind of stuff a lot easier too since you'll essentially have the world to yourself.

  • This game is a pirate game, pirates fight over treasure.

I get that it can sometimes be annoying but you get over it quickly.

There are many times I've had a fort stolen but you just try again.

  • Non-PvP Server

    Maybe don't buy a non-pvp game?

Rejoice, private custom servers are on the way. You can kill Briggsy to your hearts content without anyone not invited to your server, in exchange for zero reputation and gold gains.

No risk, no reward. PvP is the only true risk in this game, because without it, you can take all day and all night to kill people like Briggsy, you physically can't fail without it.

  • You must be new here. lol This game will never have pve-only severs get over yourself and go back to playing WoW.

  • Good thing there are tall tale checkpoints too. If you want to do a specific tale, do that and wait until you are doing voyages to get loot.

You have the same tools as everyone to achieve whatever you want in the game, use them.

  • Gotta love how a simple suggestion brings out toxicity and their own insecurities on probably how they treat other people in the game. The Section is called "Feedback and Suggestions", not everyone will like everything they read especially if they aren't open minded. Just throwing out an idea to make the game more inclusive and welcoming to especially if streamers want to have community events with new ways to play and potentially bring new to people to the game and grow a community so the the devs -CAN- have more longevity in the game and continue making free and exciting updates. And no, I'm not new. I've been playing since the game came out and I'm a pirate legend. But sometimes it is discouraging watching people put in a lot of time to finish a quest and they can't even finish it because they lost an item of no money value when it's not in their control.

  • ... and there it is! The daily "I want PvE servers" post. :D

  • @taeya The point is that this is a pirate game, pirates fight and PVE severs will never come. The amount of PVE servers requests that come in weekly is ridiculous.

Huh ? Have the mods removed posts ?

  • @taeya I’m not here to add to toxicity or call anyone a liar or anything, however i do find it interesting that you’ve been playing since launch, and you don’t have any statistics or achievements for Sea of Thieves at all. Again I’m just referring to your microsoft account, which shows (at least for me) that you haven’t actually put time into the game (or at least it didn’t register it).

  • @taeya honestly I agree with you, PVE would be nice for tall tales, I’ve been doing a grind to complete all of them and have nonstop been attacked. I love this game and I’ve played it for awhile now but I’ve grown tired of playing it cause of trying to do tales and being attacked. I love the PVP aspect of the game, all though I do missions more than attack others but it is fun to attack especially when your doing like a Galleon 1v1 or something.. I hate that people aren’t open to the idea but, oh well. The game is meant to be pvp and that’s how it will stay, I’m not really complaining but just saying, PVE servers would be nice(please don’t get salty with me, I just wanted to state my opinion)

  • @ang3licmercy not to be that guy but it’s not meant to be a PvP game, it’s meant to be a PvEvP game. I’ve joined servers where i don’t run into people for hours and i’ve joined servers where i run into aggressive player almost immediately. It’s the precarious and random nature of the encounters that personally still has me playing! (I mainly play Gold-hoarders and i almost exclusively solo sloop!)

  • @taeya please use the search function of the forums and you will see that this "suggestion" is brought up several times already....and it's enough! It won't ever happen, period! That's confirmed by the devs themselfes!

  • @beatyourownmeat I consider it a PvP game due to the fact I run into aggressive players every server I’m in, I do a sloop with my boyfriend and we both find it extremely obnoxious.

  • @ang3licmercy Well that’s really unlucky, and i’m apologize that you haven’t been able to find a quiet server. Hopefully you’ll get lucky soon and find a relatively calm one. Also practice makes perfect, and the more time you put in, the more you’ll develop a toolbox for dealing with more aggressive players! i wish you the best of luck with your future voyages :)

  • @beatyourownmeat thank you! I’ve been playing for a little over a year now, it’s a really good game I just wanna chill and play this lol

  • @ang3licmercy I hear you! it’s a beautiful game that i seem to just get lost in! While i won’t shy away from PvP, i mainly play the PvE content while i’m solo sloopin. I’m a gold hoarder for life (almost level 59), and i’m constantly scanning my horizon so that no sneaky pirates surprise me! don’t give up, and keep sailing :)

Ahoy there welcome to the forums. I know it may seem that people are quite quick to shoot down your suggestions but please keep in mind that veteran users here have seen tens, if not hundreds of these posts and it has been a hot topic over the past month what with the news of the upcoming Private Servers.

The Private servers, as Rare stated, are intended to offer complete freedom to sail the seas with your friends and explore/adventure to your hearts content, although there will be no gold or rep progression there (no risk no reward).

So if it seems people here are being 'Toxic' it's because they are tired of the same questions which leads on to my next point, there is a search option that will allow to see if there are already posts discussing your topic to save on opening another thread.

  • @beatyourownmeat I’m a Order of Souls player lol but hey! If your ever looking to play to mess around or have fun I’m open!

  • @stryps3071tv lol see fort stollen bet you don't play the game if it's not just stolen but you killed and ship sank before you even do the fort or like this guy or doing a sick quest get to the island Wich you have to and go see this cool quest and maybe a cut scene but yet these guys no risk no reward it's like yea but you put these cool things to see and cut scenes and you pull this. Not good thinking on there part

  • @ang3licmercy you know it's is fun but if these guys actually had a brain and used it before there game dies like the rest of games. it's called arena you wanna kill ships get loot play that but the sailing should be skellys and some bosses and other things it's to easy to go and ruin someone's day.

  • @unhookedsnow803 its B's went to help another sloop with a skelly ship and they shot me and killed me like you can mix good intention with bad intention people you know how many kids play this and get wrecked it's supposed to be a fun game not a beacon for God dm trolls

  • @unhookedsnow803 ..?

  • @ang3licmercy sorry idk why it tagged you lol salty night on the seas lol

  • @unhookedsnow803 lol, your good, just got me confused😂 I’m trying to do a tall tale while keeping up with this lol

  • @unhookedsnow803 it's called I'm on the boss wave and a 4 man galleon comes and killed my two man sloop

I'm pretty tired of the daily PvE server requests too, but that's just rude. That kind of toxicity really makes us as a community look bad.

The Section is called "Feedback and Suggestions", not everyone will like everything they read especially if they aren't open minded.

Forums, by definition, are an area designed for discussion. If there is going to be disagreement, here would be the place to post it. The title is "Feedback and Suggestion," sure, but the that is only a sub section of an over encompassing section called "Sea of Thieves Game Discussion." What this place isn't is a place where people can voice only their opinion and all dissenting voices must remain silent.

To call mere disagreement "Toxic" is sad, can we stop watering down that word? Not a name has been called, nor any rude or disruptive behavior has been moderated. This entire post has been tame. Calling this toxic is just childish at this point. Its perfectly fine to express disagreement.

  • @nabberwar

I agree, sorry if I was being toxic.

  • @stryps3071tv

I agree, sorry if I was being toxic.

You were not, no need to apologize.

  • @taeya

Check the news section of the website. If Rare decides to create custom servers, they would most likely have the information there.

  • @Taeya Welcome to the Forum.

As you can see, this topic garners a very acidic response from the vast majority of people who visit these forums. The very fact that there are so many threads requesting PvE/ Private servers running into possibly hundreds if not thousands of requests for PvE over the last two years should tell you that you are not alone in wanting something like that - and give you some clue as to why some people here are so blunt when they see the request.

I was the same as you 3 weeks ago - came here fed up with the whole ethos of rewarding players for being completely vile and now I don't play. I'm waiting for the private servers and really looking forward to it. There's even a thread here about trying to change the "perceived" negativity of the community that gave me a good out-loud belly laugh. The negativity isn't perceived - it's right there for all to see both in the Forums here and in the game and the proof is the overwhelming requests for PvE - which roughly translates to "I'd like to play this game but it seems full of griefers, so I just want some way of being left alone."

You can expect a couple more posts along the lines of "You brought the wrong game", "It's PvPvE so get better", "Watch the Horizon" and "I'm happy to sink noobs" - which is about as welcoming as smashing someone in the love spuds with a brick. Lovely community. The majority of posts coming in reply to this will only reinforce my point.

Private servers are coming and as there is only the illusion of progression via cosmetics, there's nothing really lost when I'm sailing around in default ship with default avatar. The only thing lost really is the Tall Tales - everything else is just a dressing up box so have some patience and you (and me) will likely get what we want. Until then, have fun playing something else.

  • @theargonaut144

Pirates doing pirate things, who would have thunk it?

  • @theargonaut144 "aye"

  • @stryps3071tv Or, or.. you uninstall so you don't waste hours for absolutely nothing but frustration
