Due to recent events I would hAve to say pc servers are even more dead than ever I think it's time to either separate by input or remove the separation all together servers feel more dead than they ever have. Im sure if things continue to go as they have been with rare and sot things are only going to decline from here less people continuing to play. I know a lot of the people In those groups were banned and rightfully so but for the rest of the pvp community what does this mean? It's way to easy for people to just report when they are a sore loser or offended because they sank. So I'm sure pc servers will really see drop in population. I think it's time to remove the separation . Or separate only by input.
Remove xbox only servers
People who use emulators to use KBM on the Xbox will still complain about PC players having advantages such as shorter loading times and higher framerates. It won't change anything.
On top of that, severs "feel" empty by nature; it's a big map and only 6 ships are allowed on per server. That's a maximum of 24 players, assuming everyone is on a Galleon. So no, it's not that the seas are empty because of server issues; they're "empty" by design, so that players encountering each other are more deliberate.
@blam320 True. Though I remember when the game came out the devs said they wanted you to see another ship around every 15 minutes. Currently I can go several hours without seeing another player ship. Wish they could possibly increase the ship number per server by 1 or 2. Not too much mind you as if theres too many then that would cause more problems with stability and pve players getting things done.
But no, I don't think the servers are dead, but the players are alot more spread out.
Hang on,, I was under the impression that this game was doing great on steam?
Optional Crossplay is never going away. Get an Xbox of you want to play on those servers.
And as for those who found themselves banned for how they behaved.. Good riddance! This is a 12 rated game.
That is the joy of Xbox servers, I only play in party chat, I can't hear anything other players say outside of my party chat. And very few are typing in lobbies. And those that do, should always be aware that anything excessively abusive they wish to type is a screenshot or capture away from a similar fate.@needsmokes I used to only play xbox actually before they dI'd the speration of xbox and pc. And I easy actually for separating the platforms but now that it's here it's pretty obvious people that only pve go to the xbox only servers because you don't have to get absolutely destroyed in pc servers so it's a bit dumb. And why they should just seperate by input. Also not going to pay for xbox live again why should I pay to use my own internet lol.

And Xbox Players do pay to play on Xbox live. It's right they get a choice.
So do the PC players if they're playing through gamepass, but I get what you mean.

Pc has an advantage over xbox
Thicker skin ;)
Leave the preference in I say, the dumbo's feather effect is working wonders on the people it was intended for. I've seen as many people as before on the servers, just a few more server merges then usual, which must be caused by the addition of more servers to welcome the influx of steam people. No kinks that can't be ironed out I am sure.
I think it would be best to leave the easy mode in the game for the people who needs it. After all they begged for it for so long, would be cruel to remove it.
@sam-bell3358 no more like no pc players to steal from lol most of the pc community are bots because they are from steam so no one has anything on their ship
@fast-bike94 I agree I used to play on xbox and the servers seemed full and there were always people doing quests and forts and even FOTD. I even played on xbox a while after the opt out and every server I got into had ships that were loot hoarding like they weren't afraid of people taking their loot. When I started playing this game that was what made the game exciting was knowing at any moment that someone could roll up while you were doing your quest or fort and take everything from you unless you kept a watchful eye on the horizon. Now that I play on pc it is hours before I see another ship that is actually doing something other than just setting at an outpost or a tall tale. No one does the emissary because they either don't know about it or they are afraid of reapers. For me I have been playing this game since day one. I have done every quest riddle and x marks the spot 50 to 100 times over. The only fun aspect now is the PVP and different player encounters and at least on the PC side that is now so rare that I don't feel like sailing the seas for hours on end to find one solo sloop that has 1 skull and 1 chest to steal. I would say they put the community back together. Or like you say make it to where it was based on input and not platform.

Reporting doesn't equal an automatic suspension or ban - if you have truly done nothing wrong, then you should have nothing to worry about.
As for crossplay, it doesn't really matter whether you ultimstely decide to play with other platforms or not - there will still be worse pirates and there will still be better pirates. For example, I usually play with crossplay while on Xbox, and haven't been defeated in weeks. Just today, however, I joined a friend who was on Xbox only servers, and we got completely destroyed by another crew. In other words, you can't judge a book by its cover.
...and the emptiness of servers isn't a platform issue. That's been an issue ever since the map was expanded to include the Devil's Roar.
@galactic-geek although thats true rare becomes more and more politically fueled on their other medias and im sure we will be seeing their views impact this game the wrong way people reporting for any reason or false reasons could be treated as a fact #cancel culture

Just a reminder opt out is a preference not a guarantee. PC players would still get put in Xbox servers if all the PC servers are as empty as you claim.
This is half true. Xbox players may be put on a "all players" server, if there is not an Xbox-only server to put them on; but not the other way around. PC players can never join an Xbox server, whether by choice or because there is a lack of PC ("all players") servers.
@surveyorpete To every xbox player out there. Grow up and turn off your deadzone and rise your sensitivity up by a lot. You can turn just as fast and be just as accurate on a controller as a mouse and keyboard. I play on xbox myself never once have I opt'd to switch to xbox only. I kill PC players without issue and they even get really mad about it because I'm on controller. The only real advantage PC players have over controller players at all is the sword dash. PC players can do it without problems while controller players it's almost impossible to do. You can do a scuffed version of it if you don't hold block and jump but it doesn't go as far. About 3/4 of the distance. To combat that just get really really good at blocking and sidestepping using your sword. Everytime they go to lunge at you just sidestep them and then hit them with a blunderbomb, a blundershot, pistol shot, well placed sword combo. They should remove the option. As for the better framefrates and loading times? Wydm? The only people who even are close to that advantage have spent like well over 2000 dollars on a gaming PC. The majority of people are running at most 60 fps and honestly 60 fps isn't that much of a difference the only thing that could mess with you is input lag. You know how you stop the input lag on your controller? Get a better Usb cord for it. One of those newer ones as it allows for better input. So as a xbox player I'm all for removing the xbox only option. So in the words of many a dark souls player, "A get gud."

I actually just read an article that since the game was released on steam, the game hit an all time personal record for active players last month. Over 3.3 million active players in June.
@sam-bell3358 yeah they may have a advantage but it doesnt mean they are gods i have fought many pc players and still won i still dont get the point of the xbox only servers anyways as they said only 22% did that for some reason
@cstrap 3.3 million that probably ate a mango and put the game at the bottom of their priority list lol. sea of thieves isnt very noob friendly when it comes to teaching you to do stuff. i run into new players all the time that have no idea how to do things because nothing tells the to do things so they just sail aimlessly and get bored and put the game down. so any numbers they release doesnt mean they are consistent players they would never release that number because if people knew how many buy the game and actually continue to play it would be a pretty bad ratio.
