Lantern colors as an unlock after getting the rest of FotD cosmetics.

  • I have recently learned that you can change your lantern colors based on how you die (new player, maybe 30 hrs in) and I looked it up, they are cool cosmetic items that only last until your boat sinks or you log off. After that you would have to be struck by lightning and die again to get the white light.

What if it was a reward with the Ferryman's lantern (overthrowing the fort 10 times) to be able to change your lantern color from the same chest that you can change your hair color from or as an extra menu when holding the Lantern up? If we needed lore about it, you could say that your soul has conquered death so many different ways that you have harnessed the essence of death itself to be able to bring forth any flame from beyond the veil.

Pros: This would allow you to easily restart the Fort of the Damned for newer players that have joined your crew, without having to die over and over to get the flames to start the mission again. It would also be cool to see a boat off in the distance with normal lanterns suddenly light up all red when they are in for PVP, then blue or green for "please spare us". Again, this would be a hard earned reward for players.

Cons: It could make the fort significantly easier to start, meaning that you could farm them faster, but only after you have successfully beaten them 10 times without this advantage.

I do want to end this with the fact that I am a new player. I haven't tried any of this yet, including the Fort, and I just think it would be a cool way to show off that you beat the fort completely without wearing the cosmetics or having to die via a specific death each time you log in.

  • @brandaro so making the commendations for that senseless...if you want to do FotD, work for it...by the way it's pretty easy to get all the flames anyway

  • @schwammlgott Then what about when you get the final commendation for a specific color, you can unlock that flame as a reward? that would be 50 of each color?

  • They've already taken steps to make it harder to trigger multiple FOTDs in a row. They aren't going to make it easier to start the first one.

  • The pro you mentioned....nah that be a con. Making a well rewarding and challenging fort to easy.
