Flameheart Event spawning right on us

  • So! My friends and I were doing a tall tale plus some other quests on Plunder Valley, it was super chill and quiet and all, we were on the last step of 3 riddles. Suddenly we heard boss music and Flameheart's laugh and sees his gigantic red head right above us. We realized the event literally spawned right on top of us, out of every possible island he chose the one with us questing! Ghost ships spawned all around the island and we dashed back to our brig, which already had 5 holes. We nearly sunk 3 times but luckily got out, left 3 undone quests behind. Normally we would just destroy his fleet but with 26 treasure chests, 8 skulls and a lvl 5 gold hoarder flag, would be too much of a risk.
Guess it was just unlucky, but hope it can try to spawn on islands with no players.

  • I very much love having him random spawn at “large” islands.

Also, this can happen with players using a voyage to summon normal ghost fleet.

  • This happened to me on the Crooked Masts literally last night. But I fought back and managed to sink the Burning Blade (almost) solo (Another sloop showed up and assisted mid-way through).

  • @burnbacon The voyage doesn't spawn his head. But sometimes they do overlap.
Was doing a tall tale with some random, we needed Discovery Ridge but a sloop was doing the ghost fleet voyage on that island. I think he sunk a few times. Didn't want to get involved, and we were 2-manning a galleon as the matchmaking doesn't seem to be very aggressive, so I rowboated in from afar to get our item. We were fortunate to have seen it from afar, didn't really plan on doing anything crazy so we had few resources to even handle that voyage if we wanted to challenge it.

Doesn't seem like the game or servers do anything at all to register proximity and such with other players or events, as I think I once server merged into another sloop while docked. Just heard all sorts of wood grinding and then that sloop despawned as I recall.

  • @burnbacon that's what I thought too cuz I figured he shouldn't be there while there's a skeleton fort active, could just be a voyage to fight the Flameheart fleet i guess.

  • its super annoying, ghostfleets arent hard , but imagine playing solo you on athene emissary last chapter just want to get the athene chest before you logg off, you have to go to plunder valley but there is a ghostship so you have to use a rowboat solo it takes time and everyone can attack your ship....even fighting these ships get old quick lucky i just need 25 more ct skulls, ghostships are just easier skelliships with stupid fantasy cannon"balls" i dont like them sorry :D

  • Super Pro tip!

I've taken out 5+ FlameHeart Fleets with nothing but a fully stocked supply crate and a rowboat. If the fleet spawns on an island with cannons (like Plunder) just leave 1 crew member behind with the above mentioned and sail away. Go have fun, sell loot or do some other mission for awhile.

Meanwhile, that crewmate who stayed behind can shoot the fleet from the island cannon(s) and occasionally cannon out to sea to collect supply crates or row out to collect the loot. When they get into the last wave (maybe 45 minutes depending on their skill and the island's geography?) they can give you a shout and you and the rest of the crew can sail back to finish off the fight and/or other ships and collect all the loot!

It's no risk. Even if you fail. (i.e. a Powder Skellie surprises you)

PS- Marauders Arch is excellent for this technique because of the two cannon towers to the East. I sunk the whole fleet in ±20 minutes there.
