Title really says it all. The spectres "circling" the loot of the event despawns, and the loot dissapears when you get server migrated.
Just wanted to leave this here so people could upvote and Rare could get a hotfix on this :)

Wrong! The loot doesn't despawn, it migrates with you! But the ghosts, that tell you where the loot is, doesn't migrate...so you just need to know, where it was
From my experience it really depends on what the situation is, if it's you being merged into a different server loot that is left on water and/or islands have a tendency of despawning, however, if its other players being merged into the server you are currently in the loot will stay and only despawn after the floating time of five minutes is up... on top of that like the person prior stated, the ghosts that are used to indicate where loot is in the water more times than not despawns if a merge takes place at all... its been an issue for quite a while with loot despawning after you get merged, i remember it being quite infuriating during the cursed sails event.
@schwammlgott Well this is weird. Cause in this case it was right in front of us, I was about to click LMB to harpoon it, but then we migrated and everything dissapeared. I have been migrated plenty of times and kept all the loot, but this is the first migrate situation with haunted loot, and everything dissapeared for us.
@kikkenlittle so as @SeeDeathMore said, it's quite inconsistent with the loot merging with you...I never had problems, always spawned with me, especially if it's right next to the ship...
@kikkenlittle Just yesterday I soloed a ghost voyage, and got migrated right as I finished it. The ghosts circling the treasure disappeared, but the loot was exactly where it was before I merged.
This just happened to me and my crew 15 min ago against Flameheart. We took out the final ship and got the achievement, then the server migrated us and all the loot disappeared... it demoralized us all to a point where WE DONT WANT TO PLAY AGAIN.
The worst part? This easily could have been on purpose, since we took out two other player ships competing with us in the event. If the server is migrating us because of low players, and players leave because they see Flameheart is beaten... well... you see where I'm going.
After reading through the forums on this issue, I'm surprised its been YEARS and this still an issue!

I believe there as a certain range around your ship that loot must be within to merge with you. I finished an OoS ghost ship voyage and merged the instant the boss ship died. Once I sailed over to where the ship had disappeared but no ghosts had appeared, I found two skulls, one of which was the skeleton captain ghost skull. I assumed the rest of the treasure didn't merge because part of the loot was close enough to merge while part of it wasn't.I have my suspicions that server merges do not happen because you're the lone ship on the server.
Just was talking to another sloop with 2 players that just did skeleton fort, friendly chat. Then I took a mermaid back to my ship, server merged about 2 minutes later. Unless they're insane they would not have disconnected on purpose. The merges are happening just because, not because of low players.
Not certain about loot, haven't had any despawn on me yet that I know of.Happened again, well I died this time but not really the point since I was kind of messing with them. After a galleon finished Flameheart and I respawned at my ship elsewhere, about a minute later, server merge. And the reaper chest that I uhh, lets say stuck on a precarious unwalkable ledge, disappeared from the map.
Unless the people playing this game are insane enough to leave behind an entire flameheart event's worth of treasure, and some stuff I put up there for my joke, the server merges are happening completely at random.Just to be a bit more thorough, I went back to the spot I stuck my treasure on, all gone, and when I said the reaper chest vanished before, I meant I was server merged while looking at the map to see if it was still there, it popped out of existence with the merge.
And here's my annoying treasure dump spot if you're curious, on Marauder's Arch, don't try to actually put anything there you want to take back, you can't stand on that ledge but will fall into breaking your legs, there's a reaper chest, chest of sorrows, ashen captain chest, and emerald gem stacked there so it's amusing bait to make people try for I suppose, but not something people could have just vanished with.
