Invade sessions as Flamehearts’s Skeleton Lord!

  • The Skeleton crew is a new idea i am proposing which will add a totally new experience to sea of thieves.

It is nothing like being a regular pirate crew.

Skeleton crews are limited to 1 per server and they dont join like regular crews, but invade your game! To become on you must select to actually be this!

Those unfamiliar with the concept of invading a game, its similar to how dying light has the mode “Be the zombie”. This crew will join your game as an additional vessel with an objective in mind and once defeated they are eliminated from the session. A cool down timer starts before another can replace them.

This means that they wont take up a ship slot but also, when defeated they are kicked from the game and a new skeleton crew cannot join that server for 30 mins. The reason behind this is very important.

A skeleton crews role is to assist flameheart in fighting back against the pirates.

One of the crew members of the ship will look like a skeleton lord and the remaining will look like regular skellies. Its totally random who and you cannot customise yourself like a regular pirate can.

You sail the undead varient of the ship you choose but for balance you are the same speed but have the layout of the undead ship and limited number of cursed balls.

You do not do voyages at outposts.
Instead you must do tasks that assist flameheart.

For example, if a fort is under attack you must go there and defend it, killing the players and ships there.

If you sink, your crew gets kicked and that server has 30 blissful minutes or so before another skelly crew is allowed to join (to prevent repeated come backs)

There is voyages though for skelly crews. Stuff like collecting chests and such. However your “outpost” is in the sea of the damned.

To get there, look at your map and circle the sea of the damned which will be on there. Your ship will submerge and you will be in the seperate worldspace on a ghostly looking island where you can pick up basic voyages with a twist.

You do not collect coin however, You collect renown with flameheart. Renown points can be spent on skeleton models to wear acting as a costume of sorts.

Exiting the seas of the damned island outpost will spawn you at a totally random area on the SOT and you emerge like a skelly galleon emerging from the waves.

    Earn renown by killing pirates.
    Defending forts
Defending skeleton ships and skeleton fleets
Assisting flameheart’s ghost fleet and wiping out the enemy players.

Skeletons will not spawn on you and attack you.
Skeleton ships will not attack you but will engage you of you attack them.

Depending on whether or not these player skelly crews are a huge nuisance or not it may be possible to have them on a timer. Maybe they stay in a session for maybe an hour and will despawn or whether they remain indefinitely until sunk.
That depends on whatever is best really, ill leave that open to you guys.

Sinking a player skelly ship will net you the skulls of these crew mates (which are all captains) and it will generate a lot of loot (like a forts worth) making them a worthwhile target to chase down.

Since they have no ship performance advantage, the fight will be fair too.

    What u think?

I understand this is a little ‘out there’ and to be honest im not entirely sure how it would fit myself. It no doubt has flaws but going off the general idea, would something like this appeal to the majority of you or would it ultimately be a negative impact to you?

    Let me know.
Thanks for taking the time to read this :)

  • I like this interesting concept integrated in SoT, it resembles the Dark Souls raiding concept too.

  • @capt-soul-beard Yeah! Glad you liked it. No doubt this would take some work to implement, But i could imagine the dread seeing the skeleton lord galleon come to interrupt our fort seige!

  • This idea rocks

it's a no from me because it doesn't make sense to the lore and I like to stick to the lore

  • Well this idea is definitely dangerous to the already fragile pvp balance. But to be honest as a dark souls player myself i like the idea. In fact I would go as far as not letting players on such ship bail water, similar to skeleton ships, to further underline they are a temporary event.
I would really like being able to look for session as a skeleton crew so the game puts me straight into a pvp battle.

    Wow.

A Red Splashtail costume doesn't fit in the lore at all yet we have it in, also anything can be considered lore if they add a story behind it.

true i just think the splashtail costume could be a curse that happened so it's part of the lore

  • @ClosingHare208
Is the skeleton curse not a curse?

it is but it takes time to do and it isn't intantaious

  • @closinghare208
Well then maybe when you spawn into the server you look like a normal human who decided to captain a skelly ship for Flameheart. As you survive on that server, you slowly begin to look more like a skeleton.

ok that's a better idea because the curse corrupts one and that a good idea to stick with

  • this is a awesome idea and i hope it becomes a real thing
