Invites to ms store and steam

  • I have both installed and today it took an hour trying to accept invites unsuccessfully.
I went to lfc in game bar, accepted the invite while in ms version only for it to open the steam version.
I closed the ms one down but still unable to join their game, getting trimmedbeard.
It seems to think i am still logged in so you have to log out of xbox live before starting the other verion and have to log back in.
Is it possible to select which version to play when receiving invites?

Its one thing that invites from gamebar while you dont have sot open should choose the steam version to open but why should it open steam while you already have the ms store version open and are in the middle of a game.

Nope, it isn't possible, and won't ever be possible since Xbox app is absolute garbage. You can't have both versions installed, you need to uninstall one to get it working correctly.

  • @mentimjojo Sorry to ask, but how do you mean? Do I need to uninstall the game bar for invites to be working properly? And will it then work for both Steam and Xbox invites? And how do I invite ms store players?

No, you need to uninstall Sea of thieves Windows Store version. You can't have installed SoT windows store and SoT steam at the same time, Xbox app / game bar are garbage so they don't understand and open the wrong version.

  • So far ive only had invites coming in from xbox players. From here you can accept them from the gamebar or in steam you can go to invites and they are listed.
From inside these all failed with trimmedbeard.

It doesnt make sense that ms xbox app or ms gamebar should link priority to an outside app such as steam instead of a ms store app.
Unless its because of the 'link steam to xbox account'.
If i unlink steam it should go and accept the invite or load up straight to the store version.
I dont recollect just now if i even need steam linked or what steam only specifics it may disable. I should be able to log in with my ms account as normal.

  • @mentimjojo I have uninstalled the MS Store version. It's still giving those errors :(

  • @teecay i think its the steam version thats causing the issue, ms gamebar and ms store work fine together.
Why on earth would gamebar notifications open up another version of the game when one is already open.

Those testing steam, are you also still testing ms store version, how does it work for you?
