Hey
As we've all been waiting and seen the price tag of $39.99 USD/£34.99 GBP/€39.99 EUR... Even though I own the game which sucks, but is there any rewards to purchase on Steam like a skin or something?
Also any chance to prepurchase? thank you!

As of right now i don't believe they will be giving out any rewards for owning the game via xbox store.
As in, if we who own the game on the Microsoft store purchase on Steam, making that double dip, is there any incentive too?
No incentive? Okay? Is there any bonus like the anniversary edition you got skins and gold.. is there anything like this or is the Steam version just the game only...
I'll probably purchase on Steam and put up a review...
@menphuess Going off what they do with the store i'd assume there will be "DLC" To be purchased like other games via the store? Or they come out with sales seeing as they come frequently with steam. Anniversary Edition may not be available straight away through steam but who knows honestly.
Other than a new platform to put the game out there for potential new players, what is the incentive for re-purchasing on Steam?
You can add and launch the game from Steam, and I imagine purchasing from Steam will simply work the same way just behind the scenes. You still need an Xbox Live Account (No Subscription), and to be signed into Xbox Live.
I really want to know if there is anything included within the game for anyone who purchases and if existing players get anything you know.
Yes, I know we are not being forced to buy again blah blah, but I’m a huge steam user and supporter so I think not everyone understands the Steam only platform mentality but it’s all okay you know.
I think there must be a little incentive or something to bring people in. We’ve just not seen it but I swear down there was a comment said a while ago mentioning a small reward or something.
I’ll need to find the video and time stamp for you all.

This is what I want help understanding. How different is it to purchase from Steam versus simply adding Sea of Thieves to the Steam Library?
From the outside, it looks the same and doesn't warrant the extra $40 for those who already own the game. Any potential reward aside, that is.

I think that is part of the OP's comment. They are willing to pay the extra 40 bucks if the Steam version comes with an incentive. However, if the Steam version has no extra incentive, then Rare (and Steam) are losing out a bit of extra profit from at least the OP and probably a few other veteran players. I believe the OP is looking for verification of any incentives.
Additionally, if connected to Steam, I believe it opens up additional payment options beyond the Microsoft Store only. (i.e. sell player made stuff in other Steam games and spend the earnings on SoT)
This is not complex. There is no added bonus for purchasing it on Steam. If you own the game already, then the only reason for buying it on Steam is because you like using the Steam platform. If you don’t care about one platform or another, then there is no reason to purchase it again on Steam. Think of the MS platform and Steam platform as portals to the exact same SoT universe. If you have a character in SoT, it will be the same no matter which way you access the game. If you are hoping for some bonus or trinket for owning it on one platform, then purchasing on another, then you will be disappointed.

I was curious for reasons outside of any additional rewards. There have been a lot of people asking for this, but it never made sense to me as simply adding the game to the launcher seemed to have the same end result.
The additional payment options such as using profits from player made stuff in different games is a new one to me, and I can see something like this benefiting a small group of people.
