Kill Cam

  • I've been playing around in the arena a lot more than often, this morning I had several matches against a, particularly interesting duo.
    This was in Duo Sloop arena: Every match they would go for the board, now what was extremely apparently is these two were very good at boarding, almost too good. I never once saw them in the water and even when I zig-zagged they would both hit my ladders with perfect sync, getting them off the ship was then impossible.

    My teammate ragequit leaving just me - and the two would instantly shoot me the second I spawned leaving me with two eights of a femtosecond to react. Their accuracy was amazing, being able to both shoot me at the same time regardless of where I spawned on the ship, even if there was a wall between us both.
    They sat there, ignoring the chest and the other ships content to farm silver each time they killed me.
    Summoning the rage spirit of Amon Ra I was able to finally get them both off my ship with the a couple of secret sword dash maneuvers. Which led to my only interaction with these two players when we spawned back at the tavern at the end of the match.

    {Mod edit}

    I was not the only one they were doing this too and I eventually noticed the other sloops all stopped fighting each other and each match they would all gang up on this duo.

    Now, I suspect these two were perhaps using some sort of hack or cheat. Their accuracy too perfect and have been the victim of teleport-boarding before to suspect it may exist as a glitch, but other than a circumstantial rant I have no solid evidence that any wrong-doing happened and that perhaps instead I was rather embarrassingly out-skilled.

    What 'would' help situations like this in the future is a way of seeing my opponent's perspective. Use of an aim-bot (or any sort of glitch/hack) becomes obvious when you can see the world through the eyes of your opponents.
    Now being able to active observe opponents, no. But during the area, rather than watch your soul slowly drift upwards in the mocking "Ha! you done goofed" fashion we currently have, wouldn't it be nice to follow in the footsteps on many others game and implement a KillKam system, this would allow you to watch the last few seconds of gameplay through the eyes of your killer showing you what they did and allowing you to see your own mistakes with greater clarity, firstly allowing you to learn how to 'git gud' better, as well as clam your thoughts down when your mind instantly jumps to the "they must have cheated" route, while also having the added benefit of making it obvious when they did.
    This should be an arena only thing.
    Thoughts?

  • This wouldn’t be very fair to those who are tucking

  • But i do believe that they should make it to where you can report players for suspicious behavior and Rare could look into the issue by watching everything they did before you reported them.

  • I love kill cams.... but not in this game. Spectating just wouldn't feel right in this game (unless they really went out with some ferry of the damned portal or such) because of how focused it is on immersion and in world game elements. Also a kill cam wouldn't be balanced because of what the above person said.

    I can't see rare being able to implement it technically either. It already takes me forever to get back to my ship I can't imagine trying to load in someone else's perspective.
