Ancient Skeletons are way too rare.

@mc-rossco I actually think it is a good price. If you look a v-bucks in fortnite, they are really expensive. SOT is a much better pricing range

Just because this is less expensive than fortnite doesn't mean its still not overpriced.

£30 is almost a new AAA game or your xbox sub for 7 months.

But in SOT it's a ship livery set.

I only buy stuff I like and I buy it because I can but it must suck back for other people. Prime example, younger gamers who have to ask permission from their parents to buy a ship set. £30 is a lot of money to ask a parent for some digital content.

  • I have no secrets to share, but I do have my own record of Ancient Skeleton encounters.

All of these have been encountered by my wife and I either alone or with the addition of 1-2 others from our normal crew. Session length doesn't play any part as we have discovered them anywhere between 30 minutes into a session all the way out to 8+ hours in. Time between them is also random as the very first two we encountered were within an hour of each other while fishing at the Scorched Pass, and another set within a couple of hours as well.

  • @daringclarky I've only had one spawn on me @ Crooks Hollow and it was worth 139 ancient coins. I think the secret is spending x amount of time on islands?(correct me if I'm wrong.)

Nope, that isn't it as I've had them spawn as soon as I've set foot on an island as well as after I've been on there a while. Have run across about 6 of them since they were released.

  • @dlchief58 Huh. Hopefully I find more Ancient Skeletons.

  • @supersnipper60 I remember my first one I ran across, it was at Shipwreck Bay and I had just left the ship when I heard that music right after I set foot on the shore. Saw the skeleton and immediately dispatched him. Every other time had varying times spent on the island so it most definitely is not triggered by a "time spent" variable. It is just random.

This is very reassuring to know they actually do spawn.
Maybe they arent as rare as i initially thought.

they are not way to rare

if they were more common there'd be no reason to buy things out of the store

i know it sucks some people may not have the ability to buy things which is what im guessing the case is here ancient coins aren't suppose to be a common currency found out on the seas they aren't the same as loot out in the seas

they aren't suppose to be popping up enough for you to just buy everything in the store it'd defeat the purpose of having it be a purchasable item

they are suppose to give you just the small amount so you'd have to pay less the next time you want that expensive item

I get that they should be rare.
Given the fact that a set is about £30 though it could be a little more common.

However having seen others has spotted between 10-15 or so then i suppose i am just unlucky. I almost exclusively sail solo so perhaps they spawn way less maybe?

I saw and killed it 4 times by now...always when I was in a crew...so maybe it's more common when you are more people

  • @peteloaf777 That's a pretty ignorant thing to say tbh :P

  • @skritsarn

How is that ignorant? Being a completionist is a terrible addiction. It to mention that SoT isn’t a game you can even ‘complete’. Nobody is making someone buy everything in the emporium.

You are assuming it's completionism though and it clearly is not.

I don't go chasing trophies or cosmetics so that's a pretty big assumption you just made with very little evidence.

I agree completionism can be bad, but this has nothing to do with my post. If you check my trophies and commendations you will clearly see I'm probably the furthest thing from a completionit you can get.

I just made the point that £30 is pretty steep. I don't buy all cosmetics and that spawns are very rare.

However this post highlighted its mainly bad luck on my part.

That I doubt as all 6 I've come across were while playing solo, never had one show up while sailing in a crew. But I do mainly play solo which would explain why I was more likely to see them there than playing with my crew just because of the time disparity.

    So it's really just rng...

  • Finally killed one today lol. He showed up as I was running up the beach on Devil's Ridge for a turn in.

  • I mean, most games don't give out their premium currency for free.

So I think it's pretty cool that we even have the chance

  • @daringclarky If they where any more common than they are at the moment. Nobody would have to buy ancient coins and then the devs would have massive financial problems.

  • @jctc758 Well I've only ever seen 1 since launch so I still think they wouldn't do much harm slightly increasing the spawn. However others claim to see them more often. Either way from my observations they spawn so little they might as well not exist.

Others have faired well on the RNG lottery it seems, but I'm just sharing my experience, or thereof lack of experience with these things.
