K/M on Xbox only servers

  • Hello.

I would like to ask that you allow keyboard and mouse on Xbox only servers.

I want to play on Xbox only servers, but I want to use my preferred peripheral.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare allows keyboards with cross play turned off, I don't see why Sea of Thieves can't.

It's not the input method that ruins PC Cross play, but the very high possible FPS that you get with PC players.

I just want to play against xbox people using my preferred method. USB keyboard and mouse sets are 3 times cheaper than an xbox controller so it's really affordable to get one if you feel that you'd be disadvantaged.

    Seriously???

  • @skylerpk You wanted opt-out, you got opt-out. Have fun!

  • The message reads:

Sailing the seas with Xbox Players on controllers only.

By all means, begin a new topic about a separate server segregation for Xbox Players with KB&M only, or which ever input methods you prefer.

  • Absolutely not, the difference (and original motive behind separating lobbies) is the input method. If you want an advantage over console, you get matched with other people with a similar advantage. Saying that it comes down to an FPS thing is basically saying the same thing as asking for exclusive servers for every version of Xbox (s,x,og, etc.) and just as insane as if I were to ask for exclusive servers for my i3 processor so that people with i7's and i9's don't have an advantage over me.

  • @skylerpk you are opening pandoras box here mate lol

Speaking of FPS, series x will be more than capable of 120FPS for this game, implement it rare.

Do those people deserve to have game performance held back because of xbox one players ?

    Absolutely not.

  • And that's why the opt-out should of been based on input-device and not platform, but nevermind.

    Precisely

  • It's never enough for these people...

    jeez

  • [mod edit]

  • Can someone confirm a statement he made PLEASE.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare allows keyboards with cross play turned off

Is this true? That you can use M&K in the xbox servers vs controller players for CoD?? Is this for real? What happen to those using CoD as an example for opt out when you can literally use the M&K in the opt out servers......really??

That wouldn't change that this guy wants to play with m/kb as an xBox player in XBox server...

By the way opt out didn't change anything to me...XBox player here, still play in crossplay servers...yesterday I wiped out a whole brig crew solo, at least 2 of them were PC

  • @schwammlgott Yea it wouldn't change what he wants, but that's just how I think they should have done it.

Yeah, it should be that way...

  • I think you can play on Xbox lobbies using Mouse and Keyboard, But you need to be on an Xbox :/

  • I still see people claiming how the series X will run this game amazingly.
On this, let's delve a little deeper.
So far, absolutely zero information has been revealed by Rare or Microsoft if this game will get an enhanced mode at all.
But wait.. There is also rumoured to be a lesser priced Series S version of the new console coming too, which will more than likely be the most popular console by gamers as it will be much more affordable than the all bells and whistles X.
No one is making assumptions about how that will run this game.

Until official information by the party's concerned are released, no one knows if sea of thieves on Xbox will ever run over 30fps.. Its an old game now, almost last gen.. Is it worth enhancing it?
We don't have the answers to that.

You don't need an enhanced mode. Even if the game is set to run exactly the same, there is going to be way less chance of frame dips that current consoles may experience right now due to the new hardware. It might not have a 60fps mode, but it will maintain 30fps a lot more consistently.

  • @skylerpk

Wasn’t the main point of opt out to allow controller users to escape KBM users?

Nope, you can't even use the chatpad if you're on XBox only server...that's one reason I stay on crossplay server

It's 2 years old...if you talk about a game older than 10 years you can talk about old

    This
And I think, series x maybe gets rid of the black screens entirely...ohh if that happens I see the outcry for series x opt out

  • laugh out loud

  • @chronodusk I agree. Opt out is to give xbox players a fair chance in combat on the seas.

  • the whole point was to remove the disadvantage of having a different control scheme, your suggestion is litterally just reverting the change.

  • It's possible to use K+M on opt out

You really don't know how backwards compatibility works do you?

There is no "enhanced" version of the game. We all play the same game. The game was created and coded practically for PC which is compatible with xbox one because it is a PC. There is no differences in the coding between the PC version and the xbox one, its the same game, you are just locked out of some of the settings. You keep believing that a console is some kind of different entity but its not. It is a PC, its just labeled as a console. They have been equalizing the code between the hardware and with the next gen the coding will pretty much be the same between the hardware. Its because they are pushing for cross play.

If Sea of Thieves is played on the Scarlett which there should be no reason why. Its going to be the full release of the game. Again there is no "enhanced" version. The xbox version is the same exact game as the PC, just with some of the settings locked and removed.

Now if Sea of Thieves was never released on PC and did not have cross play as a feature then I would agree that they would probably release an updated version of the game probably a xbox series x version. However this is not the case.

  • @xultanis-dragon yes you can play Modern Warfare, on Xbox with a k/M, with cross play turned off.

The real advantage comes simply from the games FPS cap. The peripheral is just a prefferance.

I would play PC if I could afford a gaming PC capable of running it at 120fps.

I prefer playing on cross servers, but no matter how good I am, I can't beat 120fps PC sweats, even with regen food as my screen does not update as fast as theirs.

It's the FPS, not the input method.

  • @fllw3rb0y

Couldn’t agree with this more. The concept that there is no benefit is just crazy and I can’t believe this guy even suggested it.

  • @mferr11

It won’t be enough until some of these people get their pve servers. Then the next posts will be Kraken is too strong, skelly ship stream sniped me and so on.

    Simply can’t be happy.

  • @skylerpk

The FPS don't make you a better player or a worse player. Having more or less isn't the issue.

Now this isn't to say if you play at 120fps then drop to 30fps its not going to affect you. Same with going from 30fps to 120fps. There is a period where your brain and eyes have to get used to the setting. However, once you are used to it, its the same thing.

I played on 30fps for months on PC just to see if there was any real difference. Can't remember how long it took to get used to the feel of the screen but it wasn't long and once I got used to it there was no change to the gameplay.

Higher FPS is not going to make you an FPS god. Players keep believing this because thats what players have believed forever however if it was true then that would mean higher FPS players would always beat lower FPS players and that just doesn't happen.

There are more 60FPS players then there are 120FPS players in games like overwatch however players with 60FPS are winning just fine.

Don't use FPS as a crutch to why you are losing, it'll hinder your growth as a player. If you die and go "aw man if only my FPS was faster" that is slowing your growth. Don't put some believe that there is some magical force keeping you from winning. Always adapt, always learn, always try new tactics and new things, always believe that you can do better. Don't ever believe you are being held back by something as trivial as FPS.

Your taking out the factor that if you play Xbox K/M that they have a HUGE DELAY INPUT.

If you wanna play K/M switch to PC, You guys begged for Xbox servers now don't ask for k/m on xbox.

    ECKS DEE
