I think if Rare listened to the people who complained about matching against PC players, you guys should listen to us complain about matching against xbox players.
I have a few complaints about playing with Xbox players that I will list here:
- xbox party chat stops us from communicating with them. Whether they are in your crew or the enemy crew this SUCKS. It ruins interactive moments because hey they are in this party you might as well be playing against NPC's
- Being put on a crew with an xbox player means you will either have to hot mic constantly which is a disadvantage, or you have to be unable to interact with other crews if you join the party chat
- Xbox players who cannot talk over the mic cannot event type. This leads to sessions where someone loads in, I say hey, get "Aye!" in the chat and that's the end of it. Simply a terrible experience
- Their load times are terrible. I would like for my crew to not be at a disadvantage. If they get to play against only people with bad load times then I want to play with people with only good load times
- Typically an xbox gamer will play on a television. This means they are further from the screen on average and as such have a smaller FOV. This means they are less capable of doing key tasks like spotting enemy ships, spotting tucked pirates and keeping situational awareness in a fight. Again, this can leave my crew at a disadvantage if I get matched against pc players with an xbox player on my team.
- Xbox players are unable to enable push to talk, meaning background noise is a huge problem. I'm a pc gamer, and we all have standards with sound pollution. If you sound pollute in a pc game you get asked to fix it or you get kicked. If you sound pollute in sea of thieves? Well we can't kick you AND you cant fix it except to turn your microphone completely off which most xbox players will not do AND it leaves your crew at a disadvantage
Honestly I was against the xbox only matchmaking, well we got it, and now I like it because it means I've had to play with fewer boxxers. Please, please, please rare, don't make me play an interactive pirate game with a sea full of deaf mutes. Thanks.
