Was it really necessary to put a permanent gloom over the Reaper's Hideout? It used to be a lovely uncharted island, on the edge of the sunny Shores of Plenty. It may have been taken over by a bloodthirsty pirate clan, but why did that have to affect the local weather in such a permanent way?
I get it for the Fort of the Damned. That's well... damned! Populated by skeletons and ghosts. The Reaper's Hideout just seems to be populated by extras from Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut.
We already have the Fort of the Damned, and The Wilds, which are so dreary and depressing. There's no reason the Reaper's Hideout could not have remained a cheerful sunny place (notwithstanding normal storms and fog). Even bloodthirsty brigands deserve a nice place to hang out. After all, in the words of W. S. Gilbert...
When a felon's not engaged in his employment
Or maturing his felonious little plans
His capacity for innocent enjoyment
Is just as great as any honest man's
When the enterprising burglar's not a-burgling
When the cutthroat isn't occupied in crime
He loves to hear the little brook a-gurgling
And listen to the merry village chime
Please, lose the gloom!
