First off, let me say that I am 100% in favor of the revive system for the Arena. You can't play Arena solo (unless your teammates quit out) and as such, you're always on an even playing field with the others in the match.
In Adventure mode, the revive system makes solo play no longer viable. If you die to another crew, your options are 1) Scuttle, and 2) Scuttle. Because unless you're able to kill off multiple pirates that have boarded your ship upon your respawn, you will NEVER gain ground on getting your ship back.
Before this system, there was always the chance that you could pick off one of the boarders, die, come back, and potentially chip away at the threat that will attempt to spawn kill you. Not only did this allow for a way out for the solo player, but it also put a sense of urgency on the attacking crew to do as much damage in as short an amount of time as possible. Now that the revive system is in place, if you are boarded by 3 people, and you kill 2, but then die, you're coming back to 3 people. Respawn and kill 1, then die? You're coming back to 3 people again. And again. Until you scuttle.
Sea of Thieves has always been a game that has centered around an even playing field for all. There are no stronger weapons, no faster ships, no tougher armor, and losing all your health has always meant a trip to the Ferry for the same amount of time as everyone else. This system allows for some players to have access to a feature that others do not.
Now that I've experienced this revive system firsthand (and have been on both sides of these encounters), I can say that this has made me NEVER want to play solo ever again. Considering that I play solo about 30-40% of the time, well, let's just say I'll be making a bit more progress in the other games that I own.
The death system was fine the way it was. Revive in Adventure mode has unbalanced a major aspect of this game and I'm asking Rare to reconsider.
