Searching the seas

  • I am playing on Windows 10, and got kicked out of Game into the loading of the Game. This would not allow me to rejoin my crew. Also, after waiting 10 mins to rejoin. the game never got beyond "searching the seas."

Does anyone else have this issue or a solution?

    Thank you,

  • A friend and I are having the same issue, while our third is connected and still playing.

  • also getting the same error :(

  • Me too!!!

  • Friend is having the same issue. Never had a mermaid spawn. Quit out tried to rejoin and stuck on searching the seas.

  • Got Hazelnut beard during a Gilded Athena and now I am stuck on searching the seas. this is annoying! Cant rejoin crew, I better get voyage back, i have been saving that for a long time.

  • I have logged a support request for this issue; and cited this Forum thread as supporting evidence.

  • Also receiving this error. Ended our night early because of this.

  • @surveyorpete Thank you!

  • I have been getting this error all night. So has a crewmate.

    :(

  • I've had this on two separate servers tonight.

  • they claim it's not to do with the new update but this has only occurred SINCE the new update

  • I tried to tweet them about this issue going on hours and hours ago, no response and no words from rare on if they will fix the situation @Deckhands Maybe one of you guys can forward this message along to the team, it's quite annoying when a crewmate can't re join you and they have the "would you like to join your previous session message up" only to find they will forever search the seas without loading into the game.

  • UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUE:

If the player that created the ship/game, leaves/disconnects no one else can rejoin including them. If they stay others can re/join freely.

  • Is there seriously no work around for this?

  • Having this issue now too on pc. No matter how I try entering the game it won’t go beyond searching the seas.

  • This is absolutely game breaking.
If the host is having a connection issue and gets disconnected, then the crew is down a player for the rest of the session. In addition to leaving the crew at a disadvantage, the host who disconnected loses on ALL the loot and reputation that the crew has accumulated that session.

Extremely disappointed and a SHOCKED that this was not investigated as this issue has been already reported before the live patch launch.

Reputation not updating, stuck on searching the seas, bucket not filling with water from the water bucket (a little concerning when your ship is on fire during a battle), ADS bug (when you right click and the gun/cutlass twitches back and forth unable to properly ads or block), getting respawned on a random island once you get off the Ferry of the Damned (during a battle).
Not even addressing the elephant in the room here..my shots don't register about 30% of the time, on skeletons or players.

Why do I still play the game I wonder? I love it, and I want so badly for it to be good!
Feeling extremely bad and sorry for my crewmate who has been left out 300k on worth of loot today because of this game breaking bug. Please fix this rare =(

  • @droper666 I'm not sure about this. Our first experience of this was on a server where friends took over 4 galleons on the same server. People were coming and going for hours on end after the originating pirates had left the game.
Our ship was the only one to have the issue but after all closing down the game, we were able to rejoin the session. We were respawned in the same ship (cosmetics and supplies) in a new server at an outpost.

  • @daveyjay1984

There is the side effect you mention where you rejoin and it puts you on a new server. I just did not mention it since I assume they will see that.

  • @satanicnemesis

The same thing happened to me, I'm super angry

  • This happened last night after one of our crewmates game had crashed, he was unable to join. After waiting 10 minutes it opened the spot and neither he nor anyone else could join the boat - they got stuck at "searching the seas".

Same thing happened to another friend's ship this morning and he tried to invite me but I kept getting stuck at "searching the seas".

  • @temiiiixd I got word back from my ticket they will replace my voyage

  • @elusivewombat me and my friends are also having this problem... Hope they hotfix it soon... I'm loving the new update

  • @droper666 is this a guaranteed work around?

  • @conker1098
There is no work around. You cannot get back onto the same server. The best it will do is dump you on a new server when you try and rejoin which is not really helpful.

  • @droper666 but as long as the player that created the ship/game doesn't leave, you won't get the Searching the Seas message? (When I said "work around" I actually meant a way to avoid the Searching the Seas message, not a way to fix it after it's already happened)

  • @conker1098

From the test I did, yes.

  • Me and my crew had the issue yesterday (Groomedbeard) and today (Searching the Seas or "Beatnikbeard"). Quite frustrating :(

  • The current issue is this.

if the host of a ship leaves, that ship becomes "unjoinable" to future players and the same player trying to rejoin.

I've asked support and @seaofthievessupport to post something, but they both haven't.

https://www.seaofthieves.com/status remains the same and it needs to be updated.
@Rare-Community-Managers I would love it if we can get some type of global post so that my friends and other pirates understand this issue is occurring.

  • Got the same thing the other night. Had to start to new game for me and my crew to sail together again.

  • Idk why this isn’t being addressed this is kinda a major bug

  • I expected this be fixed after the first day, super annoying.

  • Having the same problem, it’s happened every day I’ve played this.

  • My friend is having the same issue. Also I have issue where the game force closes over and over when trying to start up. Did not have that issue prior to update and my computer is all updated.

  • So I've been messing around with some things since this happened to me yesterday. What I discovered is that I am getting packet loss and disconnected. When this happens there is then a bug with sea that wont allow the host to reconnect to the lobby no matter what.

This packet loss seems to be from the ip 66.109.5.121 which points to a spectrum internet hub in Denver. A way around it would be using a VPN however, the disconnects aren't always going to happen. An easy fix for my crew we just let another member host.
