[Order of Souls Voyage] Ship Captain

  • This is an idea for a new Order of Souls Voyage. Also linked is a new Merchant Alliance Voyage.

    Ship Captain Voyage:
    This voyage states a skeleton captain has been spotted roaming the water to the [Compass Direction] from [Island]. e.g. "To the South West of Crook's Hollow."
    Sailing to this area while having the quest will play quest specific music queues and the skeleton ship will rise from the water.
    Sinking the skeleton ship gives normal ship loot with a heavier weight towards skulls.
    The captain, on death, will also drop an additional captain's skull and envelope. The captain must die before the ship sinks to drop these items, encouraging boarding. The envelope quest will always lead to buried treasure on the island mentioned in the initial voyage and generally be a chest containing additional skulls.

    These quests can have multiple difficulties. The skeleton ship can be a Sloop or Galleon and can spawn an additional random ship without a captain to help them. If you attempt to escape the ship it will sink back into the sea and return fully repaired when entering the area again. The voyage is complete when the captain dies (by sinking or being killed by a player), but the additional loot is only spawned if specifically killed before the ship sinks (cannon fire, boarding, etc).

    My hope is, that by adding additional voyages the factions can simply offer three different voyage types instead of three voyages of the same type with no real difference. The merchant alliance is the only faction that has an additional voyage type right now. The Gold Hoarders have riddles and maps in one voyage (which is fine imo, but they definitely could use additional types).

    Now seems like the time to suggest making the faction voyages more relevant with the changes coming in soon.
