The terrible pvp flaws that essentially ruin the game

  • I can't express to you how many times I've been in the middle of pvp'ing kids whether it be in arena or the main game itself and I've died to the most ridiculous reasons. One of which being the sword pvp, the sword pvp is so horrible oh my god I can't even stress to you how frustrating it is, if both players hit each other with a sword it just basically becomes a slap fest of you two hitting each other endlessly till one person dies, it absolutely ruined sword pvp for me in this game. Another broken aspect of the game that I absolutely MUST MUST MUST talk about is ONE SHOT BLUNDER(blunderbuss). Every time I've tried to catch ladder and get on someone's ship, ONE SHOT BLUNDER, every time I've tried to actually pvp someone with another gun ONE SHOT BLUNDER, even if their down repairing and ive knocked almost all their health off they just turn around and, yes you guessed it, ONE SHOT BLUNDER. The blunderbuss needs a SERIOUS nerf compared to how much it one shots, it singles out every other gun in the game making them practically useless in pvp. Some of you can try to disagree with what I said but hey you try telling me you HAVEN'T tried to pvp someone with a flintlock or sword and they just one shot you with a blunderbuss AT FULL HEALTH. These pvp flaws are literally what make people take big leaves from SOT and it really really just ruins the whole FUN in pvp, I can name countless times I've been fighting kids on my ship as im sinking and just getting one shot blunder'd and then have to sit in the ferry of the damned and then get a eternal black screen. Please, SOT, FIX THE DAMN PVP so me and other players aren't getting demolished from these BUSTED pvp features that are driving players away from SOT and finding new games to play.

Some of the points you make are a legit issue, most of them you can still avoid or use against your foe.

Them using sword? don't go to small spaces, let them m1 after you while you reload and take them out that way, are they camping the ladder? try to bait the shot by going up and let go and hope they take their shot and then quickly climb up.

One blunder in general is pretty flawed, it's way to strong and you are silly for not abusing it but it's still a close-combat weapon so if you keep distance you will most likely win the encounter.

  • @itz-majman Yea I understand the sword thing CAN be avoidable by just blocking on the third hit but its still a very cancerous feature and the ladder catch I was referring to was catching it while they are moving I don't think it should insta-kill you when your climbing but I think it knocking you off is still viable. Thank you for your tips and thank you for agreeing with some of my points.

  • Melee is no fun i agree well i never really liked it in this game but i love the shipbattles so much 🙆‍♂️ and the shiny loot to decorate me sloop

  • if you move more you wont get 1 hit blundered

  • Being one shot is not a flaw. Especially considering how close you have to be to do it.

Great risk and great reward. Working as intended.

  • If the sword bothers you, try blocking with your own. Once you block (and you don't even have to wait for their 3rd strike), you can then sword dodge around or even through them for a more advantageous position (block+move+jump). Sword-fighting is far more nuanced in SoT than most think. I haven't even scratched the surface with the advice I've given you.

As for the blunderbuss, did you know there's 20+ ways to avoid being 1-shot by it? It's true!

I'm sorry, but it's clear that your ignorance is shining through. Almost all of what you're complaining about is simply due to your inexperience or inability to learn the counter-moves. For example, getting 1-shot on ladders? Bait the shot by sliding down, or try boarding via rowboat, harpoon, or cannon.

  • As many have already stated, the entire design of the game is high risk high reward. Getting oneshotted when you rush up a ladder after loudly sloshing around in the water is completely your fault. Being stealthy is a thing you know. I sit at the very bottom of the ladder for a long time if nobody peers over the side. Then after a while I can usually board undetected. Sword fighting is fun and odds are you dont take out your sword in time for when you get rushed in order to block. Usually you can only get 1-2 shots off with a gun before you need to fend off a swordsman, prepare for that eventuality and you will be better off. The problems you listed are all of your own design.
