The two types of gifts in the game are the humble and generous gifts, a humble gift is worth 10 doubloons and a generous gift is worth 20. However, over the past month or so, the prices have been swapped around and when I sell a gift it shows I have sold the other type.
Gift Reward Bug
Just last night, I waited 2.5 hours at the RH for anyone to sail by and turn in my generous gifts so that I could get closer to achieving specific commendations. I passed the time by playing with my (virtual) pet, gathering random supplies, placing newly spawned loot next to the gifts for incentive, using apps on my phone, and pulling out the spyglass to search for ships.
The latter proved fruitful, because every time I spotted 1, a new name appeared under my Xbox Live recent players list. I used that to communicate to them that, and I quote, "free stuff @ RH."
The responses were great - everything from a "no thank you", to a cool, thanks!" came my way. One even said they were busy doing a fleet battle - of course I knew this because I could see it unfolding through my spyglass. I used the former to try and goad them into coming by spamming 500 🐔 to get the point across that they were cowards. It worked. For the latter, I narrated their battle while also cheering them on. That worked too.
I tell you, nothing is more exciting than watching a brig and galleon crew arriving to the RH at the same time, only to fight each other over my ample gifts while I watched from my perch, as they bested 1 another - each turning in my generous gifts whenever they could.
Well, okay, maybe we there was something more exciting than that - luckily for me, as they defeated each other, the battle continued nearby off-shore. They sank each other. There was only 1 survivor. I let him turn in my final gift, and then gave him a final gift of my own - eternal peace. I then rowed from the island, with my shabby rowboat, and grabbed the galleon's FotD loot and then the brigantine's fleet battle loot, and turned it all in for myself. The gold, and the glory, was all mine. Such a generous gift...
...and some say solo pirates aren't dangerous. 😅
