Time limited was time limited. Never again meant never again. Now those promises are broken because there are no new time limited cosmetics to introduce. I will not support rare in going cheap and ripping us off. We should get new time limited items. Everyone gets the cutlass I already have. What do I get to unlock this update? Rare cheated me.

@minegamer-1016 time limited was time limited. That meant something. We were supposed to get new time limited cosmetics. Now everyone will get this cutlass that I already have and I'll have no new item to work for. Pretty soon everyone will have everything and nothing will be special. Just like the day 1 patch.

Where did I say I "hate rare" Where did I "dis the devs" I simply posted my disappointment in them for not keeping their promises about time limited items, criticism isn't hate, blind love and support will only harm the games you love.

@menphuess You are wrong about this, its not true that players are penalised for buying the game later, most of the stuff from previous dlcs is still obtainable.
Since there isn't any meaningful progression system in this game, player's experience is mirrored in its commendations and cosmetics.
And why should everyone had opportunity to get the same time limited items for free if others had to acquire them by completing numerous commendations during the event's launch?Upon reading "No meaningful progression" is a statement saying about the type of view you have and on that basis I am no longer replying here.

At this point it is clear to see, for me at least, that Rare are using the term "Time-Limited" in association with a "Exclusive Event".
Thus when they choose to repeat or re-release the "Exclusive Time-Limited Event" it comes with some of the associated "Time-Limited" items.This is the biggest issue i see others having. They are of the assumption that when Rare say "Time-Limited/Exclusive" it is only for that single time and never to be available again.
Having Rare publicly state their definition of Time-Limited, Timed-Exclusive and or Exclusive Event would shed further light upon the situation.

@boomtownboss they give ipdates everymonth(name 3 devs that do that) they do what the community want, and they even give us news updates and weekly streems on their game not many devs do that do they
Whilst I do support the game and the Devs, let's be honest with ourselves that most of these monthly updates are just re-skinned past events.
Whilst we are on the subject I'll also point out that they originally started out with weekly updates, that then went to every two weeks and now monthly.
But I still enjoy the game either way.
I think the main issue people are having is that put plainly, the game used to be way more boring, and way way more grindy, and the only thing that those older players had to show for the grind was a few exclusive cosmetics from a time where it took 400 hours to hit PL, and where getting to athena 10 ment grinding 92 athena missions (with animals aboard) and where getting merchant up to 50 ment a hell of a lot of animals on ship, the game was far more tedious, boring and way more time consuming, now new players who have not put in that incredibly boring grind get a bunch of the rewards that were originally exclusive to us. People with 1500 hours in the game no longer have much more to show than someone with 250 hours in the game, so older players feel cheated understandably, I wounder if they decided to charge a subscription fee to play the game how would people feel? they always said the game would have free updates but now who knows? trust is lost you see :) that's the best way i can try to explain why people are annoyed.
@key-of-bones you my sir are getting a like, I agree despite my opinions on disliking rare adding in old cosmetics, I think its the principle of it that annoys me off more than the cosmetics themselves lol

Times change. I would encourage my fellow "OG" players to chill out over old cosmetics. Someone else getting a toy has no effect on your own toy.
Play the game or don't. Just chill out.
Tell that to the people whining for 2 years about how the old timed cosmetics HAVE to return because they want them so bad.

@mathemoto i half agree, it is kinda about being greedy but not entirely, These cosmetics were available at a time when the game was way more boring and time consuming and we endured that and got these cosmetics, now you get so much more to do, its so much easier to level up (you can buy levels now for gods sake) you have loot floating everywhere, you have reduced volcano eruptions and hits on ship (less than before though still bad) and yet the only thing old players had to show for their patience in bearing the grund and the frustration is now given away to all over the next week, something that we were originally told was exclusive and at least helped make the tediousness of the game feel in some way worth it for those back then, now its given to all, see the frustration? plus you know.....lying....not a good look for developers.

@jebluscrhist Fast forward a year and the only cosmetic old players will have that new ones wont is maybe the day one eye patch and overachiever sails and would not be in anyway surprised to see these come back but perhaps with another color tint lol!

I'm just telling it like it is, and pointing out the hypocrisy in your statement, and the lack of thought going into anything like this from Rare lately. You also didn't address a single point. Does deflection work with yours?
2 years, those people there have had exclusively earned cosmetics to show for their time. Chunks of content added here and there while some people choose to go on hiatus because "Rare sucks, no content merr" and some discover the game later. All come around seeing the cosmetics the game has on offer, and set their sights on the limited timed ones and complain that for a game about cosmetics they should have them.
Rare released the black market for those people, so they can get variants and preserve the original cosmetics. (Rares own words exact), and for the passed what... 6 months up until this most previous with the TT..? All we've gotten is reskinned voyages with a new sliver of content here and there, and a fishing event that awarded a figurehead entirely unrelated to Hunters Call, an item that felt like it had no place or purpose...
.. and yet here we are again.. no ideas, nothing new or meaningful to add so "hey, forget what we said and did.. lets come up with an uninspired way to recycle yet more content, go against what we said was the intention of the black market in the first place, re-add a timed exclusive under some task, call it an event, and everyone can feel like they earned it again"
Stupid - Directly opposite to what the entire intention of black market is in the first place. Their on record word regarding timed exclusives.
Lazy - Rather than come up with something else if they HAVE to do these "events" like they atleast did for the fishing one, they recycled the format of the last few "events" and the cosmetics.
Uninspired - They recycled an OG cosmetic in an absolutely lame way, honestly literally only to appease the people who have already been whining and insulting Rare for 2 years about THEM missing ccosmetics.
