It's really pathetic to come across players who feel the need to cheat in this game. My first instance of cheating was when me a two other friends were doing a Tall Tale. We were at the last part where we had a boss fight. As we were fighting we noticed another Brig pulling up on us to attack. No problem a fight they want, a fight they'll get. What really ticked me off was not that they were attacking us during the final part but the fact that we couldn't kill them. Several occasions I would hit them point blank with a blunderbuss and follow up with several sword hits ALL of which were nothing but hit markers and they would one tap me. Another instance of cheating I came across was doing Arena with a friend. I was new to this so my friend suggest we just attack other ships and try and take their treasure. We came across this one sloop of two who decided to cheat. All blunderbuss at point blank would not kill him. I hit this player several times with the blunderbuss and he would not die. I'm not sure of the rules but I have his gamertag and I have a clip recorded not sure if I'm allowed to post that here.
Rare you need to crack down on these cheaters
The blunderbuss is a horribly inconsistent weapon for dealing damage. Highly doubt cheating was at play here, I've danced around full crews with blunderbuss. A lot of times you will hear the same thing, "Why won't he die!," "He's cheating!", "I shot him point blank!" meanwhile, I've probably only lost a 1/4 health that entire time. People need to realize the Blunder is a garbage weapon.
The second problem is that this game has horrible hit registration. I've had many occasions where I've hit someone had hitmarkers and damage never registered. There is plenty of logical reasons for what you experienced, so I highly doubt cheating.
Hit registration in this game is horrible first off so congrats on learning that.
2 the blunderbuss has to be ADS'd if you are going to get the one shot, if you aren't then chances are you won't get the shot off.
I like how you whole entire bases of "hacks" is based on whether or not you can 1 shot with the blunder buss. Honestly? Broski, save your self a bit of hurt and just accept you aren't as good as you think you are. Its wasn't hacks and it wasn't god mode, the game screwed you on the hit registration and you don't know how to one shot with the blunderbuss.
@fllw3rb0y I like you're whole "It never happened to me so you must be lying" comment. It happens in this game bro lol
@bigwill8270 Best thing you can do is submit a support ticket. And if the video is too large to put in ticket, upload to youtube and then link the video in the support ticket, as well as make sure to put their gamertag in the support ticket as well.
Link to support ticket --- https://support.seaofthieves.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new@bigwill8270 lol im not saying you're lying there are always cheaters but im saying i dont think its that common
Im with bigwill ppl tmdo cheat in this game, my partner on an arena mode was able to shoot from anywhere on ship and kill with blunderbuss, he also couldn't die. So you onow bigwill may be onto something. We as a community shouldn't justify this when several ppl feel like its haplening it should be a wake up call to get better anti cheat services in game
If you believe someone is cheating report them. There are very few actual cheaters on the seas, in my time since launch I had 2 questionable encounters.
I cannot judge the validity of your claims, but if you believe it to be true make a report and be done. If they cheated they will be banned.
Additionally unless you counted all pellets your blunder shot you might have not as much damage as you think. I have been accused of cheating, while I was sidestepping most of their damage. The fact is that a blunder is great for eliminating people that are un aware and to provide utility with the knockback, dealing some damage in a fight. People act like doing 70 to 100% damage is just what the blunder does... while realistically if your opponent knows what they are doing 30 to 40 damage max.
People shout hacks to soon in a lot of cases, but if you believe it just report it.
@cotu42 I was running accuracy tests with the blunderbuss yesterday. In 100% of the tests, there were 10 pellets, and the pellet spread was ALWAYS tighter when aiming. I'm starting to see why some say they're getting killed from ranges other than point-blank.
@biGwiLL8270 Don't want them to live, then ADS!
@galactic-geek with pellet count I mean the ones that should have hit. The blunderbuss always shoots 10 pellets, the cone is smaller when ADSing and it is possible to land all of them at a larger range than point blank; though is not as reliable as the bloom is somewhat random.
Additionally the person that you are fighting should be side stepping if they are somewhat smart, causing the likelihood of a pellet missing being more prominent. I personally find fighting against blunders annoying as avoiding all damage is hard though unless I mess up I don't tend to get more than 3 or 4 pellets to land on me at a time.
Then you have to account that hit registration isn't always there, so it is easy to have one or two pellets not register.
@bigwill8270 Like others have said, submit your report and supporting evidence and leave it for Rare to determine.
However I will add that like others have said, after playing since launch I have only suspected cheaters a few times and to be honest it was probably a combination of lag/hit reg issues and that they were probably just better than me. I'm not saying there are not cheaters but it isn't as common as you make out on your post.
It's all about to explode even worse once steam goes live.
VAC is probably one of the best anti-cheat software out there on the market.
Want to enjoy this game minus cheats, exploits and terrible hit reg?
Get an Xbox and don't use crossplay, the game runs just fine.
Delusional as usual, this has been explained to you many times. You do realize that both server types use identical tools that register damage? You have zero clue how stuff works yet act like you do.

I always agree with your posts, but this one about VAC being the best on the market I completely disagree with. I'd give the best anticheat on the market to Warden, which is BLizzards anticheat. I personally think VAC is a complete joke, hence why they gave cod over to battle net to get on the warden AC. Opinion of course. But I do think now that SOT going to steam, cheating will be soooo much worse. Time will tell though.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Been playing since launch, and for 18+ months I was forced to endure crossplay and all the joys that came with it.
Opted out and none of those issues ever resurfaced.
Xbox vs Xbox just works!
No bad hit regs, no mysterious deaths, no freezing up lag spikes, no seeing pirates facing the other direction double tap you at distance, and so on and so on..
Crossplay was a joke! Didn't work.@nabberwar I misread it, I didn't see "one of the best" I can see your point about it. I haven't played CS since the 1.6 days, cheating was so bad back then since punkbuster was really the only AC that was worth anything. So I don't know anything about the new CS cheating. I just know that COD is a cesspool of cheating and it seems VAC couldn't get control of it. Warden is working overtime on it as well it seems, but who knows. I just hope SOT doesn't get hit with a hurricane of cheats.

Crossplay was a joke! Didn't work. This is where the delusion arises from, you are connecting to the same servers as before. They never changed anything besides putting a gate at the front door barring players. It isn't some new provider, its the same server hardware as before. You have fooled yourself with a placebo.
As much as I agree that the game is in urgent need of a way to end hack users (yes, they are quite common on SA servers), I don't think, by its description, that this is a hack use. The blunderbuss is terrible against players when you're not leaning against it. The player may end up eating between attacks, appearing to be immortal. I was recently called a hacker against 4 players in a galleon, but I had several fish in my inventory, and I still caught some of them, apart from the two pineapples they had.
I have never particularly seen immortality hacks, but it is easy to identify who uses hacks. They don't usually miss a shot, even when they're in a place where they doesn't see you. They usually kill you before your black screen disappears when you revive. Even hidden, they know where you are.
If you can send me the video, I would be grateful, as I would like to evaluate and give you a sincere answer about.
@bigwill8270 said in Rare you need to crack down on these cheaters:
@spikeynator yea this is ridiculous. it's really sad people god mode this game.
There's no godmodeing, it's the horrible hitreg in this game which has been an issue for as long as i can remember playing (atleast 1 year) and is complained about all the time yet somehow isn't even on the known issues list.
Can't count the amount of times i've shot someone enough times to theoretically kill them 3 times and then get blunderspammed to death
@galactic-geek said in Rare you need to crack down on these cheaters:
@spikeynator 5 sword hits to kill max, unless you're lagging or they're healing.
Nope no lag or heals... 8 conswcutive hits and then i get 1 shotted by a blunderbuss. Thats not cheats then?
@spikeynator Damage is server side, so it's not possible to avoid damage. There is either lag going on causing you to shoot/swing at an outdated position or a server bug preventing damage from being applied.
@bigwill8270 this happens aloooot it is known this game has bad hitbox and sometimes even your internet connection could contribute to this godmode is highly unusual for cheats even in games such as tf2 where you will encounter atleast 2-3 hackers every game now im not denying the fact that there are cheaters having encountered some myself but i believe your incident was pure hitbox related running blunder myself its a hit or miss weapon
@bigwill8270 propbably not cheaters. SoT is notorious for poor hit registration. Lag only adds to this.
