Open crew is a horrible horrible mistake

  • Great so here's the story some guy named [Mod edited] comes and joins our crew. This is a galleon. We have at least 3 hours worth of loot and two of my crew mates from my party had recently left. I opens up the crew in hopes of finding some "decent team mates" I've never tryed this before I figured what's the worst that could happen we are all pirates trying to make money right? No I was horriblely wrong. First he tried to raise anchor and the sails like he was trying to leave even tho we had a clearly marked quest on that particular island. I thought he was new or something so I let it be at the moment next he's taking all the loot and dumping it into the ocean while me my friend and a random who is actually cooperating are off doing the quest. Then after I call him out for it he grabs some of the blunder granades and throws them at me killing me then when I come back from the fairy the entire ship is on fire and sinking. Great 4 hours of loot collection just to go out by someone in your own crew. Literally beyond mad.

I wish I could have kicked him the second he started dragging the loot off the ship. Me and my friend kicked him but the other random went afk while all this was going on.

I'M NOT SURE WHY THIS ISN'T A THING IN THE FIRST PLACE

Why can't the captain the one who starts the ship have complete rain over the ship? He gets to deside who comes and gose he is the only vote nessisary for a kick. And everyone has to play by the captains rules or suffer the consequences.

Also why are the granades friendly fire?? I feel like this has a purpose but the trolling potential FAR FAR outweighs that porpoise.

This stuff shouldn't be a loud to happen im so freaking mad. It's like if you built a huge wooden house in mine craft and your friend lit it on fire while you were out in the woods or something.

I also reported him to Xbox live but we all already know that dose literally nothing. Xbox live reporting is also a joke like they need 30 reports of one person just for them to get a small ban...

  • The lesson is to dont use it.

Create a post or join one on the xbox people finder or use discord.

The reason is the posts outline the purpose of what you want the session to be about i.e tall tales / forts/ pvp.

This will match you with like minded peoole looking for thr same thing which will greatly minimise trolls.

Honestly i rarely use open crew because it is totally rubbish.

    Better luck in future.

  • @CA11-M3-GriMM Please refrain from calling out other players by name on the forums, as it is a violation of our forum rules. Your post has been edited accordingly.

Advertise, spam, troll or engage in witch hunts. There are areas in our official Forums and on our verified Discord server where you can advertise your own community groups – just ask if you don’t know where to find them. Other kinds of advertising are not appropriate. Any form of spamming should be avoided. Trolling, baiting and witch hunts are also unacceptable. If you have evidence that you think our Customer Support team should see to help them take action against a player, send it to them using the process outlined at the end of this article.

  • Yeah. Bad people exist like any other online game. Best thing is not to have that much loot on ship. Turn it in more often. This will save you heartache from PvP attacks too

You should've tested open crews before that point honestly, but seeing as you didn't, learn from your msitake, and don't repeat it. xD

    Yes, you were. xD

I also reported him to Xbox live but we all already know that dose literally nothing.

Did you attach a link to the report with video proof of what this person did? if you didn't, then yeah, obviously, it's not gonna do much. :P

  • Posts like this is why I come to the fourms. Been reading stuff like this since spring 2018. Never gets old

  • You couldn’t vote to brig him?

Someone who has control over a single ship can be worse then a random player.
Abuse of power to mess with randoms who come to join, willing to follow but are treated like dirt because they some reason. They don’t like your look, wearing not full admiral, not calling him captain, refusing to attack other pirates in sight.

  • this really stood out for me:
'First he tried to raise anchor and the sails like he was trying to leave even tho we had a clearly marked quest on that particular island. I thought he was new or something'

its likely he loaded in, saw both the anchor and the sails were down (and the boat probably facing the island to boot), figured you were new, and decided to prep the boat.
what happened then? you dont say, but i will hazard a guess! you ran over and started pulling against the anchor, in a panic because you thought the boat would float away, even though he had put the sails up. then you probably started hollering about 'leaving' and ordering your crewmates to brig the 'troll' that was trying to prep the boat. in the end, he had a gut full of that behaviour and decided to show you what a proper trolling looked like... and id say he did a pretty good job!

  • If you want a good crewmate always use looking for group either in xbox party app or on the seas of thieves discord.

Also Sails up, anchor up means the ship won't move...
