Training room

  • Hi, i think alot of pirates (especially those, who are new to the Sea of Thieves) are suffering from lack of skill. Im one of those pirates.

    Recently i have finally been able, to get myself a crew. But they are new, to the game. They can barely fix a hole in a ship, or bail a bucket of water. And for as long as we just PVE, its all fine, as we can take our sweet time doing stuff. But there always comes a time, when some real pirates arrive sometimes even in tiny sloop, and start to destroy us. Even 4 of us in a galleon struggle, and mostly get defeated hopelessly, or can barely stand our ground. But thats all we can do.

    What do i suggest? No, im not suggesting PVE servers or anything like that, im against this. But i wish there was some sort of training room, like, you get one or two (depends if ur alone or with crewmates) undestroyable ships, with infnite cannonballs, so you can practice shooting to moving targets, from moving target on real seas. Like you can create environment in which real battles at Sea of Thieves happen and practice for them, so there can be some sort of way, to minimalize skill gap between those who sail casually and those who basically lives on the seas.

  • @p0n3t Truth is there are so many useful youtube videos out there where the material is there and you can get better just by watching and taking in the knowledge they tell you.

    Some people despite this just dont bother to learn the game properly.

    Maybe they are casuals, maybe they are just not that into it, the game as a whole is easy. The only real way to get better is to just keep playing.

    For yourself it sounds like you have outgrown newer players as potential crew mates and require more experienced sailors.

    Discord or the xbox people finder is a good place to find an experienced crew.

    Check out Phuzzy Bond on youtube for some tutorials.

    Other than that just fight skeleton ships for ship on ship combat practice. Upgrade to the fleet once you get ready.

    Supplies: you are with 4 you should be stocking up consistently.

    Practice, Practice, Practice: go seek activities that challenge you. Go to Arena if you want a care free fight area where even in loss you gain gold and rep?

  • You have the Maiden Voyage and onboarding tutorials - otherwise, once upon the Sea, it's sink or swim. Learn from your mistakes. Ask yourself what went wrong, what you could have done differently, as well as analyzing what the other crew might have done that worked out so well for them.

    We (i mean me and my crew) are all casuals. We do not play to be THE BEST, to win EVERY TIME. But i would like to be at least competitive.

    I did watched youtube tips & guides, but its like learning how to do something by reading a book. When someone else do it, it looks easy, when you try to do the same, you fail and dont know why.

    I dont want to play with someone else, its my family im playing with, so no matter how bad at the game they are, im not gonna swap them of anyone else.

    @CotU42

    I did watched many YT videos, tips, guides, from many youtubers. But as i said, watching and doing it yourself are two different things.
    Skeleton ships & fleets are not a problem. We take them down easily.
    We always remember to stockpile supplies, we do stop by barrels in water to pickup things from there.

    Im trying to teach them as best as i can, but you guys know how its like, you do not find your self in middle of naval battle upon logging in. And middle of battle when we fight for our lives, and to protect our treasures is not the time for practice.

    Arena? we as a crew are not ready for that yet.

    @Galactic-Geek

    After 2 years i did it yesterday for the first time. Its nice to introduce ppl into the game, but it does not teach them anything. Like upon sailing towards the end of it, there is a ship attacking you, and yet instead of us destroying it, its being sunk by a Kraken.

  • @p0n3t

    What i did when i started with SoT.
    I collected couple chests and went for first ship i saw. Wether it be sloop or galleon (back then a brig was not in game yet)

    I just started fighting. If i lost they got some loot. This way they get payed for my practice. When i lost i learned. How they defended me and where i should improve my attacks.

    If i won well than i got more loot for the next.
    I sunk more than 100 times but now i sink them 100 times.

    U can practice in adventure: Just do it.

  • The Glorious Sea Dog Arena functions as a combat academy for maritime employees.
    You don't play to win, you learn how to persevere. You finish the match.

    Swabbies can learn combat piloting, naval artillery, and pirate eradication, all without taking the time to supply a boat or hunt for innocent targets in Adventure.

    Arena is for sharpening pvp skills, Adventure is where those skills matter.

    If you are a casual you arent going to play as often as anyone else.
    Naturally there will be a short fall in skill.

    However the mechanics of the game are simple, you will naturally get better in time.

    Dont get me wrong, i would like a training mode where i can spawn multiple ghost ships and push myself further. But it isnt needed because believe it or not, a year down the line you will be awesome at this game.
