Feedback - Athena's Fortune Suggestions

  • Suggestion 1.

remove weapons upon entering the waterfall area with the shops. seems obvious, but that's probably why it was overlooked. the athena's fortune hideout isn't like the other world locations. a player has to travel there just like with dying and being transported to the ferry of the damned. In that regard it is very much identical to the sea dog's arena and in my opinion should be treated with the same no weapons policy of the two aforementioned areas. There aren't any locations for stashing chests so the act of combat is pointless as all chests for athena's fortune are turned into the mysterious stranger.

getting killed in the athena's fortune hideout causes the player to respawn predictably in front of the waterfall. This causes a player desperately trying to reach the pirate lord to be spawn killed repeatedly until said player either pulls a lucky blunderbuss kill or backs away into the waterfall. during that time the player's ship may have well been sunken and thereby preventing the player from respawning nearby should another player kill them once they return to the tavern.

By creating the no weapons rule all of these scenarios could be avoided.

secondly why are there lootable caches in the hideout? This needs to be changed so players can't use the hideout as an endless supply of materials.

lastly - athena's hideout should always carry 1 of every kind of quest available. it already costs a bundle to start the thing. then it takes up 2 hours of your day. at least let a pirate do the one he wants. maybe some people don't like shooting skeletons or following maps.

  • Each time i enter the hideout i feel on edge i kinda like this feeling to remove the ability to walk in with weapons would have me feeling relaxed and i kinda like feeling tense everytime i go in.. This is the hideout of the greatest pirates on the seas if you decide to enter you best be packing.

In regards to your fear of spawn campers kicking the player from the hideout upon death would be sufficient enough of a fix rather than going to the extreme of having no weapon period

  • @wydyadoit Nah man, one of my favorite activities in the hideout is to 1 tap people because it's funny. I wont spawn camp them, but I'll kill them once and then do the dance emote.

I disagree with kicking the player upon death. because then 4 man crews could camp the server's only fortune lobby and troll kill solo, duo, or even trio squads to prevent them from being able to perform the quests. as there is an unlimited amount of ammo and supplies due to the weapon selection box and the supply crates that respawn items every few minutes.

in the event a player from the 4 man squad dies then they would just respawn on their ship and return. now you have people in front and behind you trying to kill you.

that's not very gameplay balanced or quality of life.

killing pirates is fine, but there needs to be a purpose as to why one would kill the same pirate over and over. otherwise it's just griefing. are you rewarded? are you making progress? or are you just wasting someone's time because you have nothing better to do with yours?

to that end i think it should be obvious why the hideout should be a no guns lobby.

  • They wont be able to hold it as well if they need to go through the process of re-opening the stairway to the hideout plus as you stated there is 0 point to holding this spot anyway due to there being no loot to gain honestly can't say there is much problem with the issue of people camping hideout atm as is, given there is nothing to do down there plus nothing to gain from waiting for a legend that might never show.

  • I duel with friends in the hideout. Don't remove this. Just deal with it. 1/20 times i go to the hideout, nobody is there.

  • I have simultaneously been the aggressor and then the victim of an Athena's Fortune ambush and spawn-camp - a lesson I learned the hard way, and 1 that I will never repeat as a result of that experience.

This has only ever happened to me once (in the aforementioned scenario, where the tables were turned on me), and like others said, the point is relatively moot as there are hardly ever pirates there, and even when there are, there's very little incentive to attack you.
