You are familiar with the concept of fireships yes?
Essentially its a ship laden with flammable materials with the sole purpose of sending it towards a fleet to explode. It was used to thwart blockades or assist in escape such as when the pirates attempted to escape Nassau from british occupation.
Now in sea of thieves we can cover our ship with kegs but you always have to stay onboard and detonate them to make it an actual fireship.
What I propose is a mechanism that assists in this but allows the pirates to ditch the ship and watch the fireworks.
So..
This is how it works...
You have covered the inside of your ship with multiple kegs and see a parked ship in the distance loading up loot from a fort.
Now you have the explosives set you need a trigger.
With a bit rope you can tie a keg right at the front of the ship where the figurehead is.
This means if your ship collides with anything infront it will explode the keg tied at the front, causing all the other kegs inside to explode too causing multiple holes if it hits and the ship.
This means you dont need to stay onboard, so long as your ship is on target.
Now it can be countered.
A good eye of reach shot will make it explode prematurely.
It also doesnt need to be used as a fireship at all.
You could tie a keg to the front to kill off a few of the enemy crew during a ram, having a guy on standby to repair the few holes.
Eitherway it would be a cool feature and it wont be overpowered because we can technically make fireships now, it just means at present we gotta babysit the ship where as with my idea you could send the ship on its way and board with your rowboat.
