In the latest Sea of Thieves News Joe Neate talked about what we could be seeing in the April update and he talked about adding in some of the OG stuff into the game again from the Hungering Deep update Cursed Sails update etc. Please do not add this stuff back in the game. The OG stuff that us OG players have let us show off that we have been playing the game since the beginning, it lets us show that we played the game and worked hard for this stuff, it also lets new players know "hey this guy has been playing the game for a while". You can't add this back into the game, Its not fair for us OG players. please stop listening to the butt hurt players that want this stuff back just because they didn't attend to the events. That's why Dukes black market archive thing exists. Because you listened to these players and let them remove exclusives from being the game. Exclusives made people want to play the game and earn it for them selves so they can show off later on in the game. Please reconsider your decision Rare. I hope they have some idea of who already owns certain items (achievements) and give the ones who already completed it a special item. Title, outfit, Ship part, something.Anyways, it still gonna be fun to relive these moments.
How they plan to unleash them, gonna be something else.Basically just undermines them anytime they label things as limited time in the future.
I have to say it's a disappointing move by Rare. Do whatever reskinning you want, it's great for old players too... but giving away previously limited time stuff not only removes the reward for playing this event, but also undermines our trust towards your future claims

I beleave this will be a great opportunity to relive or experience these events. There are so many players out there who loves and care about this game but they missed their chance to even take a part in these events. I understand that some of you own these cosmetics because you were there and earned it and you might think if they bring them back why would you even brother getting them if you can get them anyway at some point. But thats not the chase. These event and cosmetics will be time limited but once more for those who missed the chance. They might have to retake the same challanges that you done and earn the same way. I belive this way these cosmetics are still keep their value.

Thank you for read it.I've been waiting ever since the Hungering Deep event for them to rerelease the Hungering One figurehead (no one was willing to help me fight the Hungering One last time, no matter how many people I asked), I'll be incredibly sad if it's not one of the things that's being rereleased. Why do you base your happiness around denying other people what would make them happy? That's such a selfish mindset.
Agreed limited cosmetics should stay that way. I've played since day 1 and I am sad to have missed out on a few. But still think they should not be obtainable again.
I think this is a good reason for early players to keep playing (myself included) Still very proud of some of my limited cosmetics and for good or bad you are immediately recognised as a long time player. This would no longer be the case.
Im all for re-releasing events, but rewards should be different cosmetics (visibly very different too), not the original versions, or not just a slight design/recolour of the originals. Very different.
If you missed out the first time, bad luck. Move on.
It's funny the back and forth over this, but slightly sad that they're backtracking. I doubt these types of posts would be made anywhere near as often if the rate of new cosmetics was on par with the flow of gold and doubloons into most players hands.
Edit - actually watched the news and, sounds like they have to actually earn whichever piece they go after so, I care very little about it now personally. They didn't get to experience the original event, but I did. That's enough for me.
I don't think it's so much pleasure, more the "been there, got the t-shirt". I persnally wouldn't wear a t-shirt for a specific concert i hadn't attended. I would if it was a best of concert that I did attend with a different t-shirt.

Them re-releasing the content to other players doesn't diminish your accomplishments at all. Time limited cosmetics hurt players who have no time to play or who haven't played the game from the start.
There is no reason not to let players have the same opportunities to get cosmetics.
This game is completely based on cosmetics and if you didn't notice there are not a lot of cosmetics available to the general public who haven't played this game for 2 years.
So I'm glad they are re-releasing and I hope they keep re-releasing it all of it.
Time limited or exclusive bonus content hurts the game more than promotes it. Like the Sea of Thieves key codes for certain obsidian items, they are selling on ebay or on amazon for a few hundred dollars. The same thing with the Sea of Thieves controller and if they are still available the Sea of thieves hard-drive.
Players hording exclusive content to sell them and a significantly higher mark up.
Other players having the cosmetics does nothing to you as a player. Absolutely nothing. If you see someone who has the cosmetic do you sit there and drive up and ask them "hey where did you get the cosmetic?" no. You either roll up and yell "friend or foe" and make an alliance or you roll up and yell "friend or foe" then laugh at them and shoot them and sink them.
Keep it exclusive for a few months. 3 to 6 tops, but then give everyone an opportunity to get it.

It doesn't have anything to do with others getting the once "time-limited" cosmetics rather now I feel foolish that I grinded away to get something I didn't think I'd be able to obtain after a certain point in time. Also for a game without progression time limited cosmetics made perfect sense, at least to me. I understood this game would evolve over time but this decision is one I really don't like.

Agreed, i don't like limited time cosmetics. However, these were limited time cosmetics, don't change that. Add new ones that aren't limited! @fairwayfreddy it’s not like the newer players won’t have to do anything or grind for these older cosmetic. They arnt just going to give these players the older exclusive cosmetics for free. I am assuming there will be certain accomplishments to unlock these just like “us/we” had to do.

I'm pretty sure you'll still have to grind to get the items, though, and you would have had to wait two years for your next chance.
You know who wasted their time grinding? People like me who spent hours sailing around, shouting into a horn, only to be refused or attacked by every ship we came across. How does it hurt anyone to give people like us another shot?
@fuzzyrocket5198 what it comes down to is exclusive cosmetics especially the OG ones make players that unlock them feel special and intitled. It’s normal in games. It happens in many games. I have unlocked everything in the game. I’m always open for others to unlock older cosmetics that people have missed. As I said before in this thread it’s not like they will be given these cosmetics for free. They will be earned as well I’m assuming

This game is based on cosmetics, the only way for someone to see you and know that you are an experienced player, who dedicated time to the game, who has knowledge ... is to see that you have exclusive X event clothing, THE ONLY ONE WAY.
@bladedcookiee Once they release these cosmetics they will lose all their OG value. Itsk kinda like how the skull trooper in fornite was but except fortnite made the outfit glowy for the OG players. Hopefully rare will do the same somehow

They were there for the event and they got rewarded for it. If you were not there for the event shame on u thats the players fault.
No see I wouldn't say its the players fault. There are lot of things that happen in a players life. Work, family, mistress, connection being lost due to storms, tornadoes. There are a lot of things that would keep a player from not being able to get online that are out of their control. Especially when its time limited.
Now if they released something that said "Hey to get this cosmetic you need 5000 of this piece of item" then I would agree that it is up to the player to find the time to complete that event. They could spend a month, 3 months, 9 months, or even a year or more to complete it. Its upto them however.
What you are harping on is that you have more time to play then others. Which is not a testament to you in your ability in the game now is it? "HEY GUYS LOOK IM SO AWESOME BECAUSE I GOT THIS TIME LIMITED ITEM HAR HAR HAR IM SO GOOD AT THIS GAME" - when all you had to do was just get online.
Sorry man, no matter how you want to spin it, you don't have to actually be "good" to get any of the time limited cosmetics. You just had to be online and grind useless garbage nonsense for however long it took.
So no. Any cosmetic that lets a player put the time in however they want I'm down for. I was irritated when they lowered the requirements for the original commendation from 1000 chests/skull/etc etc to 250. I mean WHY LOWER something that is not time limited?? If it takes them a year to get it, it takes a year.
However time limited stuff is completely dependent on who has time and who doesn't. Sorry mister lives at home with his parents so he can play all he want. Some of us grown ups have responsibilities.
SIDE NOTE Before you take the route I'm guessing you might take. I have all the time limited cosmetics. Since the beginning of the game I have them. From the Hungering deep to now I have them all. So don't think I'm disagreeing with you because I don't have them, because I do.
It was the WORST time I had in this game though. Didn't have any time to play and what little time I had, I had to speed grind the useless garbage flavor of the month (back during the hungering deep days, those were only a week or 2 weeks, so you had less time)
I never liked time limited whatever in any game. Its stupid and needs to be removed entirely. It only beneficial towards players who have all the time in the world.

No because cosmetics don't mean anything. They don't mean you have knowledge of the game nor does it mean you are someone who is dedicated to the game. It just means you have more time to play then others. Thats it.
Cosmetics don't mean you are experienced since none of the cosmetics were hard to get. Just time consuming. Tedious. A useless grind.
There are Athena 10's that are completely oblivious and useless with cannons and being behind the wheel. There are Pirate Legends who don't know how to play the game.
Cosmetics do not mean you are experienced. It does not mean you have knowledge.
The only thing it means is during that time of the event, you were lucky enough to have the time to play.
