My first playthrough was between 3-4 hours i think.
Me and my crew were really taking our time and enjoying the journey though, getting immersed.
After doing it once, we started aiming for the gold curse, so we farmed it.
Each run then too about an hour-ish, 45 minutes like @BurnBacon said, because we already knew all the steps, and didn't stand around wasting time, speed running basically. :)
Yeah, was my first time and I was solo so it took a while. Next one will be much faster but it still is somewhat infuriating to spend hours on a tale that can't be completed due to some bug. It should have been at the very least been advertised or the best case scenario would be to simply disable it altogether until the issue is being resolved instead of having people waste their time on something that can't be done.

I think @Rockhumper is talking about the fact that currently, if you die in the Gold Hoarder room, you can respawn in the cave for the new TT.
This is something they are aware of @Rockhumper and they've advised people to avoid doing it for now:

We're aware of issues regarding spawn points in the Shores of Gold Tall Tales. Our team is currently testing a fix which we hope to be in a position to roll out later this week. I'll have you know i solo'd the gold hoarder 4 times and didn't die, i also did it 4 times with my friend so he could get the gold curse too, and i also helped a random stranger do it once... So yes, you can easily do it... The gold Hoarder is a complete pushover when you do it with a sloop-sized crew, he's only hard to fight if your crew is brig-size or galleon-size. : /
Just get familiar with the sword controls, watch a few youtube guides.

Which is only a problem, if you die... And it's reasonably easy to avoid dying when doing the gold hoarder with a sloop-sized crew. :P
