So obviously with the new update, many of us, myself included, are running the new Athena voyage to try and get the new cosmetics for the ghost set. But as I've been keeping track of what I've been picking up, I've noticed some trends. You tend to get the same range of items everytime you do it. And most of them you're gonna get from digging on the Xs, which is easy. But you're only guaranteed 3 skulls each time with a chance for them in the chests from riddles, an even lower chance for those skulls to be villainous. Well I've been running this voyage almost non-stop since the update and most of my commendations are done with the rest only requiring a few more items. The villainous skulls on the other hand are only at 13/50. This seems like a stupidly low drop rate considering I've come out of several of these voyages without even getting one. And all my other challenges are way ahead. It's gonna be ages before anyone gets the capstan at this rate..

@wraith-04 it's more annoying that there is only one keg per voyage...means, we have to do it 50 times or steal it...

@schwammlgott well you're guaranteed one keg from the skele who spawns in chapter 5 but you have a decent chance of digging one or two up in chapters 3 and 5 as well. Whereas the villainous skulls you aren't even guaranteed one and they are much more rare, which means over 50 completions. I've already run the voyage over 20 times which has taken up all my time over the past 4 days straight but 13/50 villainous skulls is ridiculous for over 20 runs
@wraith-04 if we would have to make less than 50 voyages to finish all, would be ridiculous imo...it's fine as it is
@schwammlgott Plus tbf the skulls are only for the capstan, I get wanting completion but at least they didn't lock the skulls behind the cannons ;) now all I want them to do with the current ghost set is make the hull glow like the ashen dragon hull all they gotta do is color swap that ashen hull and it would worth putting on
Meh, did less then 10 of the quests of which i lost 2 due to server issues and im currently at:
30 chalices
28 crates
11 kegs
8 relics
15 ancient skulls
7 villainous skulls
I dont mind, it guarantees people doing them guaranteeing interactions, and making it so i dont have to spend 50 doubloons each time and can steal them tooI think this Pirate legend update is very poor. I reached Athena 10 8 months after the game came out. My ship mate sooner. So from around November 2018 I personally have been waiting for Athena content. And this is what we get? Another grind fest? Not very imaginative. Not much fun. Pirate legend means nothing. 😭

@inboundbomb as far as I'm concerned it is nothing. If a lazy reskin of a mega keg is all you needs to keep you happy then I genuinely am happy for you. As far as I'm concerned, it's not good at all. I love this game. Play it almost every day. Been a fan of Rare since the Ultimate days... I'm just so disappointed.

We all love this game but unfortunately no matter what you do in this game or any game it will always have the same outcome. Same deal with a different spin. Been gaming for 40 years and this has been the freshest game there has ever been in the past 10 years to be honest but I digress. Sorry that it does disappoint you.
My opinion: achieving great things in the game, Athena ship cosmetics for example, should be a grind. I’m not a fan of achievements that take a few days. Consider the Legend cannons: 500 skeleton ships sunk as a Pirate Legend. Now that’s a grind! When I see a legendary title, or cosmetic, I want to think “now there is a person who earned it!”
Edit: btw I’m not defending the mission, just the difficulty in achieving the goals. I believe the immediate rewards are disappointing. 600 gold for an Athena marketed item? Silly.

You have multiple opportunities to get villy skulls. You get a chance from each shrouded skeleton, you get a chance in each treasure chest and you get a chance from the mega keg skeleton. That’s 5 chances per voyage.
Although I’ve gone 5-6 voyages in a row without getting one. They will be the last one you will complete.
Im all complete. I made about 2 million gold this update (although the ship parts set me back 1.5mil)

I had to do 93 to get to AT10, so 50 are not a big deal at all

Also the skellie with the keg spawns a skull too
@sammyr0cks glad i only use my level 30 gold hoarder title. You won't even know what i earned. Would you threat me different ;)?
@schwammlgott I don't know, I never agree with mindless grinding, especially not when it's just a previous voyage with a new coat of paint.
