Damn mermaids keep getting in the way of fishing causing fish to escape, for the fish slam right into the mermaids.
Mermaids should only appear if Pirates summon them with some sort of mermaid call with like a whistle or something.

Duh, what pirate wouldn't want a mermaid at his beckon call?
Unfortunately mermaids are not under contractual agreement to do anything you may want, except take your wayward butt back to your boat.
They are not pets, not even actually allies, and are not intended to be under player control.Especially when fishing.
