Can you summon the kraken or the megalodon doing something or it is just randomized?

The Kraken traditionally only has a chance to spawn in between world events spawning (i,e. when there is not a fort or skeleton ship battle active) - If you're looking for a Kraken, best set sail after you see a fort or skeleton ship cloud despawn.

The Megalodon can be found rather easily just by sailing around in open waters, it's considered a nuisance by many - be warned that they will despawn if you sail too closely to land masses.

It's largely just random, but the Kraken does have a predictable window for spawning and the Megalodon is rather common.

Has anyone noticed that the Meg seems to spawn pretty consistently when returning from the Shores of Gold? Out of the 10 or so times I've been there, I can only think of once or twice the Meg didn't spawn when returning to the West. I dont know if it has to do with how long you spend there, if it's just coincidence, just my crew, or if y'all have noticed that too.

Yes, it will spawn after about ~75 - 120 minutes.
If you have 2 ships on 1 server you can get 1 meg for each ship within that 75 - 120 mins.
3 ships will generate 3 spawns for you... and so on.

@tangus-00 Yes you get a Meg sailing back from the shores of gold. I believe its only you are carrying treasure though...which would include the gold hoarder skull.
