New types of forts? Rework Skelly fleet?

  • I'm sure people have recommended this before, but i think it would be really nice to have different varieties of forts. I recall first playing the game and seeing the eyes glowing different colors on the forts and thinking they were different difficulty's, only to realize that they're all the same. I think it would be really cool to go to a fort and have things like, easy, medium, and hard. An example is having more skeletons the higher the difficulty, more rounds, and higher health for the skeletons. I think it would make the game a lot more interesting and fun.

Moving on to the skeleton fleet. I have put a ton of hours into this game and even now being a pirate legend, I think the skeleton fleets are extremely hard and unfair. I feel that the skeleton ships require at least 2 people to finish, and you need the ship to be PACKED with supplies. I've completed plenty of skeleton fleets, and every time I go into one I know it's going to be a bad time. The galleon ghost ships are so hard to sink, mostly because of the skeletons constantly spawning and repairing, and the pressure that the skeletons on the cannons put on you. I find that I need to either be on the skeleton ship to be constantly killing the skeletons (to stop them from repairing) or I need to have someone killing them so that I can cannon the ship. While on the other hand the sloops are incredibly easy to sink and are a sign of relief when they rise out of the water. I think that the skeletons that are meant to repair should have a reduced spawn rate, and the cannon skellys should shoot less often. Just my opinion though.

I've completed the skeleton fleet many times solo. It's a challenge but a welcome one. I've also done it with hardly any supplies. Maybe a couple pockets full on top of the starting supplies. The most important thing in any ship battle, skeleton or player, is positioning your ship. You're movement, or lack of movement, can turn the tides easily. You always want to keep your ship out of cannon range in any battle. Don't think of it as an impossible task, try to see it as a challenge and test yourself to try and complete it. You might go into the battle numerous times and sink, but every time you sink, you should learn from it and improve your tactics. Nothing in this game was really designed to be done solo, this game is centered around crews and playing with friends, but if you are smart enough and experienced enough, you can succeed in just about anything by yourself.

There already is a harder stronghold with a different cloud - the Fort of the Damned. It gives a higher reward, too.
As for the fleet, it's meant to be quite difficult, but you can do it solo quite easily. A few CCBs and/or firebombs works quite well for it. If you want to kill a skeleton galleon, the easiest way is to keep the skeletons off of the cannons (as you've noticed), so either switch to shooting them every now and then or light the deck on fire, it'll keep them down for a bit. A cursed cannonball will stop the skeletons belowdecks from repairing if you hit the right spot, which can lead to a lot of water pouring in. They don't bail, so every bit counts.

  • @polarbrr3269 sorry but I don't want them to be nerfed. Everything is becoming easier and they already have made it easier with the introduction of sloop versions. I have done these solo, when each wave was guaranteed to be two galleons.

Stop trying to make the game easier and start becoming better.

It looks like people just want to make all pirate legends into PvP hungry pirates by removing all the PvE challenges. If they keep making everything easier so everyone can do it without any effort, that means the only challenges are other pirates. I already hunt for pirate treasure when solo more and more, because I am lacking a challenge in the PvE and you want them to nerf one of the few I still enjoy. All what will be left is PvP at this rate.

  • @polarbrr3269 I solo fleet from time to time...just yesterday again...it's a bit stressful when doing solo, but that's ok...

Also there are different forts and fleets...right now we just have the red clouds, but I'm sure we get the regular clouds back in one of the next updates...then we have regular fleet and fire fleet, regular fort, red-skull-fort with a lord and the fort of the damned

  • @cotu42 sagte in New types of forts? Rework Skelly fleet?:

I have done these solo, when each wave was guaranteed to be two galleons.

I remember the fleet, when they were introduced in the cursed sails update...there wasn't just 3 waves, there were 5, each with 2 galleons spawning, sometimes you got lucky and one of the waves just spawned 1...that was hard, but still doable

  • @schwammlgott Do you remember the glitch where they just sat there and didn't attack? That was jokes 😂

  • @schwammlgott

Sometimes if you got unlucky it was 3 in a wave, and the megalodons spawned in nearly every battle. Sometimes all of them would be going for you simultaneously.

    Oh...never had that...

Oh yeah...megs have been pretty annoying that time...at least every 2nd fleet we did a meg appeared...but sometimes it attacked the skellies, so it was fine

  • I remember a not so distant time when eyes of reach had knockback. Those crowsnest skellies were easily the biggest problem I had. Numerous times I was shot off my ship only to have it sink before I could make it back.

Oh yeah, that were the biggest thread of the ships...I sunk just because they shot me off...

  • @wrs
I remember some servers glitched and wouldn't spawn skeletons or wildlife, so the ships were empty. You could literally put one hole in it and wait for it to sink, collect the treasure and move on to the next one. If I remember correctly it was during the second wave of battles of the cursed sails event when I had heard of it. That meant you could keep continually farming one battle over and over until its time was up and it cycled to the next in the rotation. Then sail to it and proceed to sink empty ship after ship, which you could board and steal supplies from, doing battle after battle until it cycled to the next. I don't remember what the times were changed to after the first week but I do remember that during the first week, each battle was active for 8 hours at a time, and I guess it's possible that glitch existed then.

  • @cotu42 I don't have trouble getting the fleets done. I play this game every day and can easily sink ships solo and have fun doing it. The only problem is that I realize that when i'm playing I either get 0 pve or the game rng throws it at me all at once. Meaning I get megalodon, skeleton, and kraken (yes all at once). I guess I worded it wrong, but I don't have trouble doing these, I just don't have fun doing them.

  • @polarbrr3269

Wait you can do it easily and yet stated:
"I think the skeleton fleets are extremely hard and unfair. I feel that the skeleton ships require at least 2 people to finish, and you need the ship to be PACKED with supplies." Followed by a conclusion that the repair and cannon frequency need to be reduced.

Sorry, but you are asking for nerfing the encounter. You are not introducing other mechanics, suggesting ways to make it different, more difficult or any of the aspects that would make it more fun. You are only asking for the current version to be made easier.

Now you are oooh no it isn't that I want to to be easier, I can handle it no issues... I just don't enjoy PvE? You are not being consistent... I am not enjoying the PvE as I once did, because of them nerfing the PvE experience over and over again.

I personally PvP and steal now when solo more than when I am in a crew. I used to be a pure PvE pirate while solo, unless opportunity presented themselves or being contested; I was running Athena's, cloud events and monster hunting. Nearly every single one has been nerfed to the point it isn't motivating to do and causes me to wander the seas in search of ashen skeletons and pirates. Once stocked I might head to the fleet and that is probably all I do as of late.

The PVE experience becoming easier and easier is one of the reasons legends start becoming the bored pirates that hunt others for a challenge.

  • when i did them solo for legendary commendation sometimes the meg was really helpful sometimes pretty annoying;)...skelliship shouls spit out same value like a fort ...(30k on cpts ship)cause alone its impossible collecting all the loot from the ships sure sometime i can harpoon some loot....and please dont say its not meant to play solo i dont care sometimes i wann play solo;)

  • @weedstar-deluxe

Not impossible to collect the treasure solo, but you're not intended to play solo at all. It wasn't even a planned feature. Regardless, you can collect the treasure if you keep track of the ships that are sinking and take what floats back up with the harpoons or just grabbing it by hand.

  • @weedstar-deluxe I have had no issues collecting the captains loot if not contested by pirates.

Harpoon or rowboat or park on top of it and just haul it up the ladder manually.

  • @cotu42 I clearly stated that I worded it wrong. No need to attack me for it.

  • @polarbrr3269

The title is Rework Skelly Fleet? With a post about nerfing it... I don't know what the RNG spawn rates have anything to do with your suggestion and if it isn't worded properly what the hell are you talking about? What do you want them to do with skeleton fleets?
