The imbalance of Ashen Keys/Chests and Tome RNG

    So not only are ashen keys still incredibly hard to find while fishing, but you upped the cost of ashen key stash quests to 100 dubloons when a key is inherently more useless than a chest mechanically and worth less when sold.

    I ran into so many ashen chest guardians doing just one Chest of Rage quest and had 4 ashen chests by the end of it and no keys. The only ashen key guardian i found despawned when i died.

    But lets assume i found plenty of ashen key guardians or just kept buying key stashes from duke. When i open the chest i get 2-3 tomes that are possibly duplicates or even the same tome repeated instead of the new tomes added in the update.

    This entire system is frustrating and not fun when you're hunting for a specific tome, let alone needing the key to open the chest to begin with.

    This update seems to have made it the opposite.
    Last month it was 6 ashen chests and no keys to be found.
    Last night we had 5 ashen keys and no chests. So had to pay a ridiculous amount for the ashen chests, only for them to have old tomes in. Sigh.

    I spent an hour there, fished out 6 keys. Not bad tho.
    So they are not incredibly hard if you know the fishing spots.

    Those Tomes you already own, Also grant you back Doubloons so you are not losing much. Yes it difficult, BUT BUT!!! you dont have to do them.
    If you want the Ashen gear, which atm seems to be a long term Perm to acquire key and chest, I see no reason rush this.
    No need to rush to collect them all.

    I had 4 keys and no chests yesterday lol.

    Would like to see an RNG adjustment that makes it more likely to get a time you need, not guaranteed mind you, just a 1% better chance for getting one you don't have.

    Finally finished tomes of resurrection yesterday and I'm glad af to be done with tomes hopefully forever now

    If you can, just blitz the fort back to back. Guaranteed key, and 2 chests with each chest being a guaranteed resurrection atleast.

    @pithyrumble Yeah the system should check if your crew currently has a key or chest and adjust the spawn rates for the opposite of what you need. Or just dont inflate the prices of key/chest stashes when the prices were fine to begin with.

    And if thats too much to ask then make it so you dont get duplicate tomes until you have an entire set. One of these steps needs to be less stressful.

    I discovered the hard way today that the new tomes of resurrection are now guaranteed at the Molten Fortress fort and very unlikely to get during adventuring. I wish they had actually said that in the trailer. It was only when I asked on the discord that I discovered that it was on the loading screen info dump - like I ever read those.

    What is up with these Tomes? We have been doing the same things for five months. Keys, Chests, Tomes! This is meaningless, we do the same things, only to get a meaningless book whith just a name change. Rare, you can do better than that, just stop this Tome thing!

    To the topic, yes I also find it very hard to find Tomes of Resurrection.

    @snikefriend yeah, they're basically exclusives to the molten fortress. They happened to not say that in the release trailer.

    They're guaranteed atleast 1 from there.

    I've still found plenty out in regular ashen chests outside of Molten Sands.

    @tre-oni i think i opened up 12 yesterday and got 1. The % of getting is pretty Bungie level shady.

    They're clearly trying to push for the ashen fort to actually get some use.

    Sucks, but in 12 chests, you'd have absolutely cleared resurrection tomes from Molten Sands.

    @xlrking so as others said, I had 5 keys the other day and just got 2 chests...so 3 keys I bought chest-voyages for...wish I had your luck...

    @schwammlgott It goes both ways, thats why theres an imbalance because the layers of RNG are absurd. Id still be upset if i had tons of keys and no chests to use them on.

    I finally did get a resurrection tome yesterday after god knows how many chests.

    Just adding my 2 cents here. In my case, I almost certainly find Resurrection Tomes in Ashen Chests dropped by Skeleton Sloops. I killed 4 last night and all 4 gave me those Tomes. I yet have to collect III and V but it still seems a pretty stable spawn.

    Continued my ruby splashtail fishing session today and the first thing I fished was an ashen key😂
