I've been thinking why do Rare not add cosmetics from other naval civilisations from history. The Admiral stuff is obviously the British Royal Navy, the Sovereign stuff is Spanish and the new Ashen stuff is clearly Asian in origin. So how about some Norse, Celtic, Dutch.
Norse/Celtic cosmetics could also come with a new map area. Either a Icy/Artic area for Norse or an area of misty mountainous islands for Celtic.
@highland-stag In regards to history, the most notable pirates were British, Spanish, or Chinese. While I have no doubt that every civilization has had its fair share of pirates, the Norse and Celts were largely seen as viking marauders - not pirates (even though that line can certainly blur at times).
@galactic-geek well viking/vikingr means "raider" or "pirate" translated we did our fair share of pirating plundering and pillaging viking in old norse would mean "freebooting voyage or pirate" but another term being one would go on a viking (commiting piracy or going on a raid) we was pirates muraders sea men raiders or barbarians just depends on the way you see it as we plundered both at sea and on land
@jollyolsteamed Maybe, but probably because it's simply not pirate enough, and when the catchphrase is #BeMorePirate, well...
@galactic-geek well im guessing your worried that the cosmetics would be chainmail armor and helmets and such i don't think that would be the correct theme for us old school pirates/vikings as having such armor would mean your either rich or a man in power majority of vikings could not afford such items and well we drank alot of mead or ale and vikings are basically the old school pirate it would fit the theme as once again the kraken being taken from norse mythology it really isn't far away from the #bemorepirate hashtag as you might think but thats just my opinion it would not be so far fetched from being a pirate but i don't know which representation of a pirate your leaning on either the real ones or the hollywood representation as this game is leaning heavily on hollywoods representation

...and that is precisely where I will disagree with you. Vikings are cool, but they're not pirates.
