- When I saw the new cursed chest, I thought of creating a topic to list everyone's suggestions on ideas for creating new cursed chests.
I really like the idea of having malicious rewards like these we can take advantage of in our favor. So I will list some ideas and tips that we can currently do with this.
- Chest of Sorrow Tips:
1 - Many players do not know the incredible usefulness of this chest and its curse. For those who have problems facing a ghost galleon I have good news for you, skeletons don't use buckets... so if you put that chest on their ship it's only a matter of time before they sink without you having to use any cannonball or gunpowder barrel.
2 - If you are having trouble transporting this chest, ladders on the sides of the ship are an alternative, just hold the chest and hold on to the ladder, the ship will not fill with water, but at the same time you will have to wait until it stops to cry.
3 - If you are sailing in a boat, know it is immune to the curse effects of the chest, it is an efficient way to carry out a sneak attack on a pirate ship without making noise of explosions and cannons. Hide it at the top of the mast, the advantage will be all yours.
- Chest of Sorrow Ideas:
1 - While the chest is crying, if the player is on fire, it would be interesting as soon he holds the chest the fire goes out. Not only that, but it could also be used as a walking extinguisher, wherever he passed holding it the fire should go out, either on other players or on the ship.
2 - I imagine you developers didn't think about it, but I think it would be interesting to create an interaction between the cursed chests, for example while the chest of rage explodes the chest of sorrow starts to cry because of the explosion.
3 - A balance for carrying two curses! A chest that fills the ship with water, and another that spreads fire. If you carry both, how about the chests neutralize each other's curse? I think the chest of rage should lower the water level at the bottom of the ship, at least enough to completely neutralize the water from the chest of sorrow. I wouldn't consider it so beneficial considering the chest heats the water and causes damage when trying to walk down there. While the chest of sorrow cries beside the chest of rage, the ship would not fill with water and the chest of rage will remain calm.
4 - Many might consider the strategy of leaving the chest of rage down there beneficial enough to maintain the ship's hull without the need for maintenance, so I suggest that during the battle between other ships, whether skeletons or players
depending on the damage caused to the ship, the chest can become so enraged as to spread fire on a large scale. The fire would even go to the second floor of the ship and the explosion could even cause the knock back effect. This type of consequence would be enough to give the opponent time to not only invade the ship because it has fire in the way, but also to shot several cannonballs and cause enough damage so the chest cannot evaporate the water in time. It would be a matter of time before someone invaded and removed the chest from there to sink the ship faster.
5 - Although in the game the chest of sorrow cries for no reason, as well as the chest of rage, I think it would be interesting to find an alternative in which the player can calm the chest and make him stop crying. Maybe using an emote? Caressing the chest and feeling embarrassed? Using a handkerchief to try to dry his tears and comfort the chest? Just imagining seeing such a scene would be a lot of fun!
If this idea is approved, I think it would be even more interesting if the chest cried more and more and was more scandalous until it got the attention it so desires, maybe it is lonely and does not like to be alone, and as soon as it is left side does he start to cry? Like the chest of rage, I think it should cry more and more when attacked. There is no shortage of ideas on how to improve the experience by carrying this chest across the seas.
- Chest of a Thousand Grogs Tips:
1 - While carrying it if you know how to turn the camera to the side that is being directed and use that side to advance the route you will not be stopped trying to fix the way in which you try to walk to your destination.
2 - There is one thing that more experienced players use to hold the loot faster: They first take the loot then move on but then immediately drop it and quickly look down while trying to grab the loot again and run at the same time for the direction you are taking it, even if it doesn't make sense if you hold the loot button right after looking at it briefly and running away it will appear in your hands shortly after. Depending on the performance you can save a little time not to mention that during a confrontation besides being able to keep a little distance it is difficult to shoot someone who behaves in this way.
3 - If you like ambushing pirates, it's a good bait. As soon as he holds the chest, you can attack and take advantage that he will still be drunk until drops it.
- Chest of a Thousand Grogs Ideas:
1 - I believe many stopped drinking the grog from that chest, considering on our own ship we can drink grog without need as much as we want, I think to make the chest more useful, there should be no way to fill the tankard in the ship itself, that's right! I think finding a barrel full of grog on your own and depending on how much the player drinks its value is decreasing would be a good mechanism to be implemented in the game, after all if it is to drink grog, finding it would be a good reason to celebrate! And if he wants the player could fill the barrel by paying at the bar to take on his travels, why not?
2 - I think we should be able to transport normal grog barrels that are not cursed, except the cursed chest should have a differentiated grog with some special effect, perhaps making the player drunk faster and running some automatic reaction like emotes in which he would act for himself. Like trying to hold yourself somewhere or something, sleeping and etc. Just like some cargoes, if the normal barrel is attacked it can spread grog on the floor and if someone spread fire on it will ignite completely as if it were pure alcohol. Just like a powder keg the grog keg can spread a lot of fire if it is burned and I don't think it will explode like powder, if the barrel gets shot, it will leak out groggy on the ground and you can spread fire through it. To clean the grog, just throw a bucket of water or wait for it to dry over time.
- Ideas for new cursed chests:
Chest of Hunger: The curse consists of an insatiable chest, it feeds on the flesh and life of others. I would consider this one of the most valuable chests on the list for the way I will list his behavior on it.
Background: The chest emerged through reports of pirates who were shipwrecked and stuck in tiny and deserted islands, starved to death while protecting a chest that was left with them during their stay. His spirit was trapped in the chest and now he lives feeding on the essence of life that crosses his path.
The Curse: The chest only feeds on meat, this will give players a reason to kill animals on the islands more often and make a stock of meat. Depending on the meat that is offered and the way it is prepared, the chest will be satiated for a longer time. If the chest is not fed I have the suggestion of two consequences it can perform. The first is to consume the life of a player on the ship slowly, the chest will choose the healthiest player and will cause damage over time while waiting for someone to prepare something to make him stop. The second would be to consume the player's maximum health by 30%. In other words, as long as he doesn't feed the chest he can only have 70% life. However, if the affected player dies, the chest will be satisfied because it will consider that has consumed the body completely. If the player manages to gain distance from the chest he will no longer suffer from the curse, but if the penalty is to lose 30% of maximum health, it will return to 100% normal. However 30% of the bar is missing as if it had taken damage and can be healed.
If you ask why I suggest that 30% of maximum health as a consequence, it would be for the simple fact that a sniper can kill you with a single shot if you do not feed the chest. Another consequence would also be the fact that if the player is carrying animals on his ship, the chest may try to consume one of the animals and would be much more satiated, this would also give usefulness to the cages that few players use to capture animals scattered around the islands.
The reaction of the chest to skeletons could be chosen by the developers:
The first would be that the skeletons are immune to this chest because they are just bones, they have no meat to feed the chest, so it would not be useful to use it as a weapon to attack skeletons.
The second would be the chest will be able to feed on the skeletons' souls slowly, as if consuming the essence of their lives. It would be a good way to explain how the chest would work on skeletons.
A curious and crazy way to be free of the effects of the curse of that chest would be to have two of it on the ship... don't you understand? Allow me to explain: The chest's desire is not really to feed, but to have the feeling of being fed, so where does all the energy it absorbs go? For the void, in short he does not consume this energy, he does not use it for anything, so if you have two chests next to each other, each one will be feeding each other infinitely until they are separated, and no matter how many chests of the same type you have on the ship, as long as they are close to each other they will feed without depending on the player as well as not disturbing the player.
Chest of Blacksmith's: Before anyone says that there are no blacksmiths in the sea of thieves, answer me why do we have swords? It doesn't make sense without a blacksmith right? I think that in addition to malicious chests the player can find cursed chests that can benefit or curse everyone who carries it! A chest that enhances or hinder the use of the sword. Although he saw everyone who died around him as pirates, the desire to provide improved tools to those who are weak and with a strong desire for revenge served as a good reason for him to use his talent only for his entertainment, but the chest knows when it should be useful or irritating, if in the hands of a skilled pirate, he will use his curse to weaken his blade and hinder your combat performance. Players who are very good at PVP will find this chest quite irritating, while others who are starting now and die a lot will enjoy receiving their blessing to counter attack!
Background: The chest appeared with the death of a blacksmith who had the goal of achieving perfection in the creation of swords. He was betrayed by a pirate who promised a fortune as payment for an excellent sword. The blacksmith died at the hands of his client and his legacy was stolen, his spirit was imprisoned in an anvil and eventually turned into a chest, and his anxiety to assist or weaken all pirates who cross your path has began.
The Curse: The chest only helps or hinders the crew that held it last, if your crew was the last to carry the chest to your ship, the curse will be installed completely on your crew. The chest cannot be carried by any other pirate outside that crew, if someone tries the metal in the chest will be glowing as if it were burning the iron in the furnace and will cause damage to the player as a way of warning it is impossible to carry it by hand even wetting the chest with water. It will only be possible to hold the chest if the ship of the crew that took it last sank. Harpoons work by any player to pull the chest, but they will not be able to remove it with their hands if it is from another crew, if the chest is no longer on that ship its curse effects will completely disappear until it returns. The current crew of the chest can still be stolen and lose the chest, if the ship gains the necessary distance the chest will return to be left without an owner and anyone will be able to hold it. To pass the right of owner of the chest to another pirate crew without having to sink the ship itself, just take the chest personally to the other ship and leave it there, so your crew will no longer be the current owner and will no longer be able to hold the chest.
Depending on the number of times that the player on the curse of the chest dies to other player, after spawning the blade of your sword may become glowing as if it were a burning blade and will do a lot more damage, for example you can kill a player with three attacks instead of five, I considered three attacks because the effect is evident and everyone can see his sword is different, so whoever is holding a sword will need to be on the defensive and be very careful not to be hit by the full sequence of three attacks. The prepared attack of the sword will also become stronger almost killing the enemy. I did not consider the possibility of making the enemy catch fire because it is a close combat, if the enemy catches fire he can pass the fire to you and that would only hinder. If the player with the upgraded sword dies without killing anyone he will have a chance to return with the same upgrade, in case he killed someone from the enemy crew and died he will not be upgraded, the enhancement effect is temporary and will last at least ten minutes.
Depending on the number of victims the player kills the chest will begin to curse him, unlike those who need to die to activate the benefit, the curse can be activated while the player is still alive, but it will only be activated as soon as he places his feet on the ship, and his sword may need at least six or seven attacks to kill a player, the effect of weakness in the sword is identical to rust, the sword looks old and rusty as if it were in poor quality.
The effect will last until he dies for a player, selling the chest, or leaving it behind.
Those are my ideas! If you liked it, leave a vote to the developers take a look, thank you for your attention!
