Coin skeletons.

  • Ive encountered one.
That was the first week they were introduced.
Now ive never seen one and i play every day.

They need to increase the frequency.

Given that a simple set in the emporium costs about 4000+ gold, over £30GBP, the prices are steep. This means that finding coins is pointless because you can cant really buy anything other than an emote.

So let players who put the hours in come across these more and slowly earn enough to get these.

People will still buy with real cash purely for quickness / wanting an instant set.

Other players can earn a set within 1-2 months gameplay.
If anything, this will keep some players in the game giving them another goal.

  • @daringclarky I don't think they should increase them, we are lucky we can get the chance to obtain them for free in the first place. My crew has encountered them twice which I am grateful for but honestly wouldn't mind if we didn't get them, the emporium is there to support Rare and the continued development of the game that we all love.

  • Haven't seen one since the first week myself.

  • I'd rather see the prices in the Emporium dropping down each month for previous stuff.

The Skeletons are just a gimmick to motivate coin purchases, they are not supposed to be reliable way of getting them.

I agree it should be lowered. You can buy a game for the price of a ship set. Aprox 34.97gbp

I get that its to support it.
But dont you think its a little overpriced?

Lower prices would encourage more purchases.

Lots of kids play SOT. A kid asking their parents for £30 just to have the Hunters ship livery set is likely going to get a firm NO. Not unless they're very generous or play the game aswell.

Dont forget, we all support Rare but supporting these high prices and an illusion that you can earn them is going to make companies more greedy knowing they can get away with it.

Just look as the disgusting practices of Ubisoft and EA.
Rare are better than this. But if we accept whatever they throw at us, they'll turn to similar practices.
Anyone would. Hell, even i would if i ran the company if we could get away with it. Its a business afterall. We need to put our foot down sometimes and establish a line that shouldnt be crossed.

Anybody who disagrees im going to suspect you have shares in the company lol

  • @daringclarky That's fair enough as it's your opinion. I personally do not care for cosmetics in the slightest and often don't even bother to 'dress' my ship, so I'm probably biased here.

Although I do agree that their price point is way off the mark and ship sets are stupidly expensive and could do with being cheaper, although I probably personally still wouldn't buy them.

I have bought some emotes, which I think the pricing is fair.

  • Found my 1st and only 1 just last week. Darn thing was worth only a paltry 100 ancient coins! 🙄

  • @daringclarky

I found only two, I think it was little, but I do not agree that the frequency should increase.

I'm a developer, a designer, I know how difficult and laborious it is to make a game. The time spent thinking about things, testing, creating, organizing and still having to put up with an impatient community... What keeps them developing the game not positive feedback or fame. It's the money.

I don’t think they’re like the Gold Hoarder, they shouldn’t earn much, as the cost of maintaining a game company is high. But, they need to earn more to grow, increase the team and consequently produce more.

The gamepass should not give them huge amounts of money, and Inthink this game don't sells like a GTA, COD or Witcher.

How do they make money? With these ancient coins. Of course, many things are expensive, especially in my country, whose currency is worth less than 1/4 of a dollar, but this is how they can receive money.

I think they should not invest in these skeletons. But in giving ancient coins to players of different forms, that make the players play more and more. Not a RNG.

Many would buy more ancient coins if they liked to have a little to spend, but we shouldn't abuse and give away lots of coins for free.

  • @targasbr I dont mean make them appear every session.
But having only seen 1 within the space of a few months is a bit much.

  • @daringclarky They're not as rare as that bloody ghost meg. I myself have killed 6 I believe so far and my crew has gotten about the same I believe. Average 140 coins a piece per one. Got 3 of mine mostly fishing a fort. They're there but they are rare to e sure.

I saw two in the same week. It's just luck.

I think when private servers become a thing they could have a rare employee as a kind of ‘Events Master’ and the winning crew win ancient coins.

Events could range from sea races, fleet vs fleet etc.
I imagine thats why private servers will be a thing. that will be cool.

  • I think that the spawn of the ancient skelly is fine as it is, is something special and rare... Like the "ghost", an Higher spawn will compelty destroy the feeling when finally found one.

What I don't like is something else about emporium:
I do agree emporium is there to support the economy of the developper himself (and it is absolutely fine, creating content need money, a lot...) but give me a fair choice.
The pets imo should be purchase with dooblons or coins, then the special outfits require ancient coins or irl money. Like the ship cosmetics in the emporium, I can buy them or not but in the game other cosmetics are given to every one.

I am lucky with 2 ancient skeletons I bought myself the pet, but not everyone so far could do that, pets is something the community asked for loong time, from the PL a10 to the first day sailor everyone should be able to Farm and buy a pet.

  • I'd love to see grand voyages where you have to hunt one of these ancient skeletons down.
Maybe make them a reward for reaching lvl 50 with a faction or once a month you can buy one of them from Duke for a handful of coin or doubloons

  • I agree, the frequency should be increased a bit, especially for the amount they give off. Im not staying to make them common, but at least have them spawn with the chance to be rewarded on a monthly basis.

  • @red0demon0 I am curious how much do they give you? Because the first gave me 342 and second 230. I read around people that got over 400 with one

  • @muchturnip49319 RARELY do people get that much i got 249 WHICH IS SOOO CLOSE TO 299 which you needed to buy a basic parrot when they were on sale

  • @muchturnip49319 i personally think all items should be able to be bought for high ammounts of gold or dobloons but can also be bought with ancient coins

  • @octopus-lime but it also sucks to not be able to get a pet cause you have no money.

  • So far, the people above are all those who dont have a job or money to spare over a video game. Just enough to buy it (unless it was a gift/game pass)

Simple put, don't get all bent out of shape if you can't buy anything. It doesnt change the gameplay, only makes it slightly and very little impactful for your own journey. Or show off.

If anyone follows the Twitter, forums, Youtube. They do tend to offer free items, last one I recall was a Purple money for just being a Prime member. (Of course not everyone) So keep an eye out and they may offer another, easy one.

About the Skeletons, I've found 8. Simply fishing at Mermaids for hours before one spawns on the island. Its rare but happens, the amount isn't great but it helps knowing I soon will have enough or spare change.

If they increase the rate, they will lose a small % of income from those who do buy the coins from those who find them ingame. (I could be wrong but seems legit) Bad idea.

  • I've only gotten 4 and all of them were in arena. I fought for it and got the last hit on it. Then killed the dude lels

  • I think the price should be lowered in the pirate emporium.

  • The point is that they are rare. They onlybgive enough to bump you up a bit. They are encouraging the purchace of the coins. I play nearly every day as well but I have never found 1 ever. Only once has my crewmate found 1 and he killed it with me nowhere near. We only got about 150 coins out of it. They don't exist to be a source of coins but to bump you up enough to want to buy it. Learn the system lad. Then play it.
