Skeleton crew members

  • I would like to see a mechanic to have skeleton crew members.
Would be especially nice for soloing, but an extra crew member would be great anytime.
Just to assign a position to, maybe have it on the sail, to help raise and turn the sail. Or guarding a ladder, shooting at anyone who comes on the ladder. Maybe just put it on the helm and have it steer your boat with map waypoints. Leave it below deck to help repair.

    Just an idea

    Dude, no.

Imagine how ridiculously easy the game would become...
You could just asign skeletons everywhere you need and they would play the game for you, where is the fun in this?

I don't think that this is what Rare intended.

  • Interesting.
Make it like a super super rare item like Mysterious vessel.
One broken vase spawns one skeleton.

  • @mystic-nefro how exactly do you think they would play the game for you? You obviously can't communicate with them, so they wouldn't be useful during sailing, but manning cannons and watching after the ship when you are away - fine.

    A terrible one.

  • Seems like an interesting concept but cant see rare actually implimenting this

  • @l4chsfps thanks for the constructive criticism.

  • This forum can be very toxic sometimes.
Thats why i love murdering people on the seas so much.
Especially if they’ve spent over an hour collecting loot.

    Thats your opinion.
    I think quite the opposite.

It would pose a balance issue perhaps but it could be workable.
Cursed cannonballs i imagine would have similar kick back if the idea was spit balled on the forum.

Gotta keep an open mind about stuff buddy.

  • The AI is not that sharp, they have no clue what a bucket or ladder is for, and they pop like popcorn in fire.

SoT is centered around four friends in a boat sharing adventures. It is about interaction and communication.

Solo sloopers would just use these bots like a crutch.
    Nerfing their ability to #BeMorePirate.

This idea is weaksauce because it promotes anti social gameplay in a multiplayer shared world environment.

Rare likes to get players out of their comfort zone.

A better idea is to get used to joining Open Crews, than wishing for skellie crewmates.
Way more fun than this forum would lead one to believe.

It comes down to communication, and skellies only talk to skellies.

Give me dedicated repairmen or a connoneer with better aim than your average open crew member... seem way to powerful of a tool. For those that have issues with ladder defense, having it fully automated... again to powerful.

I don't think that it should be included in the game, as it is supposed to be players, there choices, awareness and skills that control and manage the ship.

To me it sounds like a manner to decrease social interactions and promote solo play, which I enjoy but do not believe should be made easier to make it more accessible.

If you need or want to fill the slot on your crew get a pirate, teach them the game and play together. Show them the way and they will be better than a skeleton. #BeMorePirate

  • the aimbot would get annoying whos supplies would they be using? what if you want to be on the cannons and they've taken the cannonballs or cursed how are you gonna get them to give it to you

The problem with working with people is that they have their own wants and needs. Thats why im always solo. Fun on my terms.

That might be a little selfish of me but i work 60 hours a week so i feel i have a right to be selfish lol.

In all honesty it likely wont happen but it is an interesting idea.

Fortunately solo is very viable and im glad that hasnt changed.
