New Weapon System

  • To go along with this update new weapons would be added:

    Weapons have 3 categories for melee: Fast, Normal and Heavy.

    • Fast weapons like Daggers and Rapiers deal less damage but can combo and strike quicker.
    • Normal weapons work like our cutlass but you also can use an Boarding Axe.
    • Heavy Weapons are stuff like bigger Axe, clubs and swords. They are slower to swing but deal more damage.

    Every player has access to an unskinned version automatically for balance reasons but you can pick any combo of 2. Dagger and pistol, Dagger and Heavy axe etc

    Melee has three categories; Light, Normal and Heavy

    Light melee weapons have fast attack animations, more combo attacks and are quicker to draw/swap to. They do less damage and have the shortest swing range. Light melee examples: Dagger, Dual Wield Knives, Short Sword, Small Axe/Tomahawk, Rapier

    Normal melee weapons have slower attack animations, less combos but do more damage and have a bigger range. Normal Melee examples: Current Cutlass, Boarding Axe, Staff/Stick

    Heavy Melee weapons have no combo attack, swing is the slowest but hit the hardest but also reduce player movement speed when equipped. Heavy melee examples: Large Axes, Clubs, Bigger Swords, Maces etc

    Range Weapons have 3 versions as well. Close, Medium and Long Range

    Close Range are very deadly and include Blunderbuss and Pocket Pistol (very short range).

    Medium Range is Pistols, you can dual wield Flintlock buy they have much less damage.

    Long range you have a Musket with Iron sights and a Bow/arrow.

    Finally you have a new type: Tools

    To add to fire bomb you also can equip: Smoke Bomb( blinds enemies), Snare (trips up/slows down enemies), Throwing Dagger/Knife (quick and fast), Poison Blow Dart (DoT like Snake).

    Special Notes: You can still only equip 2 weapons or 1 weapon 1 tool at a time. Arsenal is fully available to all players in weapon rack at spawn.(in plain cosmetic version) Fancy skins can be bought or earned as rewards like currently but they do not effect the stats.

    We need to spice combat up badly. This is the only way to end the double gun meta.

  • @quicksilver7723 Love this! honestly PvP has become so bland now with the only real way to combat is blunderbuss and add a few sword swings to finish the job. This would make you really have to think tactically about PvP and not just B-HOP around the ship waiting for your gun to reload.

  • i also like the idea of the bow and arrow as this could add maybe a hunting mechanic. Giving a whole new range to the hunters call

  • A dagger (fast), cutlass (moderate), and a boarding axe (slow) to coincide with the blunderbuss (close), flintlock (medium), and eye of reach (far)? I think I'd be down with that.

    Oh hello, a RARE employee commenting on my suggestion! Thanks for considering my ideas as I think weapons/combat is an area the game could use improvement. It would expand the combat sandbox and spice things up plus give more cosmetics for people to earn and collect.

    That is a fine idea to start with (Ill take any new weapons at this point ;D), also hopefully more tools like firebombs like I suggested.

  • @galactic-geek technically dagger is not the best choice of "fast" weapon. Rapier is. Fencing when your opponent has a rapier and you - some other heavier blade is like trying to block an auto fire of assault rifle. Also, rapier is a historically correct thing to be used in a pirate setting (well, the one where pirates got stuck in a weird supernatural place with magic and afterlife).

  • @crazyzombie6734 Daggers were far more commonplace. Besides, Pendragon's sword essentially is a rapier, so how would that work out for those who have unlocked it?

  • @galactic-geek it can be re-classed into a rapier in case of rapiers being added.

    About daggers - the thing that makes me unsure is their reach, too small, as it seems for me.

  • Man I would love to see boarding Axe and maybe hand held harpoons I have seen models for both in game that axe should be heavy and the harpoons light just poke people and give it a little more reach

  • I would love to run around with a massive, slow axe which does like 50% in one hit. You could also charge an attack to do a whirlwind sort of move maybe.
