While hunting Megalodons is pretty simplex. Could the developers please give the fan base the rarity of each megalodon. With so little shrouded ghosts found it would at least help to know how often it can spawn as its the one everyone is looking for. Also perhaps have a legitimate method of hunting them. Such as playing "summon the megalodon" the shanty increases the chances or having a certain one spawn more commonly under certain conditions. Eg. the Crested Queen is summoned more common when their is high amounts of treasure on the ship or that the Shrouded Ghost is summoned more common near fog.

I agree. I suggested a "random encounter" around sunken ships for a similar reason lol it adds to the lore of the game but also gives players a bit of control around seeing both megs and skelle ships
Also...I may have found a way to do it 🤔 I've tested this about 10-15 times and found a meg spawns 98% of the time after the golden shore tall tale. Go there..speed run it (takes a half hour if you speed run) and right when you sail back into the sea of theives and lose the shroud breaker the meggy shows up about a minute after give or take.. only time she didnt is when I tried multiple times on the same server so free meg spawn once a day at least 🤷♂️
I also suggested "bounty contract missions" for legends where meg hunts are the mission for the fisherman (I dunno why I can never remember their name lol)

I cannot tell if this is a serious suggestion or a leg-pull. It seems like a lot of work to get the meg to spawn. It’s likely that the Meg spawns simply because you have to spend a long time sailing open seas.
You likely stand as good a chance of meeting a meg just getting to Morrow’s Peak to start the tall tale.
Also... maths! If you really tried this 10-15 times and it worked all but one time, the best you can claim is a 90% - 93% success rate. You would need to do it 50 times, to claim a 98% success rate.
The southern region of wild creatures and open seas? It did flee back that way, after all.
@tsukiyomi3 Not sure about all Megs but as far as the Shrouded Ghost is concerned I can give you facts on it. We dont know where or why it spawns as it is said to spawn at random places and conditions but we do know about how often it spawns. In the weekly official contests here in the forums some info was given. One week Rare asked in a 24 hour period how many Megs were killed. The official answer was 6,441. Next week they asked how many Shrouded Ghosts were killed in a 24 hour period. The official answer was 11. Doing the math says you will have to kill 584 Megs and the 585th would be the Shrouded Ghost or you have slightly less than a 0.2% chance of it being one. This number isn't perfect though but gives you an idea of the probability. Take into account most know about the Shrouded Ghost and would kill it if seen so say with new players or others involved in other battles that 25% get away. So let's round up to 3 a day. Also not everyone kills a Meg when they encounter one so let's say of all that spawn 50% are ignored. This would be another 6441 a day that are ignored. Putting these numbers together would give you a more probable spawn rate of 14 Shrouded Ghosts possible and 12,882 Megs possible per day. Do the math and you get the probability of 1 in 920 Megs that spawn being a Shrouded Ghost or a 0.1% chance of one spawning. But alas, even with math, it's just comes down to right place at the right time!
Just to say: we found it on a Detour between Dagger Tooth and Shipwrecked Bay iirc to do an Athena Cargo.
Everybody wanted to cancel it, i said i want to do it, we turned around and it spawned.
No Fog or anything around. No Alliance or whatever. It was late evening, Sun was going to set.
It just happened and when it does you wont ask if it is the Shrouded or if not anymore, it's very clear it is if you happen to see it.My only encounter with the Shrowded Ghost was after leaving the outpost. I had just started the session, as far as I could tell no other ship around and the fog … well I had clear sight, I didn't care about it.

I did that tale at least 10 times. No Shrowded Ghost. So add my 10 to your 15 and you're down to 14/25 ~ 56%.

On topic tho lol I have tested the meg spawn rates....they do very much spawn randomly but you seem to get more encounters if your engaging in battles.
I was working on the athena milage commendation. I literally just sailed around the map on the outer rim. I would get entire laps done..little to no encounters (besides kraken and one meg that I can remember)
I switched to the "sink 500 skelle ships" athena commendation and I see a meg almost every single time while fighting. Sometimes during the fight, sometimes right after, but she shows up..98% of the time! 😅
While I do agree you may run into one before the golden shores has started it's not guaranteed. My suggestion for testing out the guaranteed spawn after golden shore is more for those people..like me...who are purely meg hunting for the shrouded ghost and want to take advantage of an extra spawn
Also not a leg pull. Myself and my team were bored and decided to speed run the golden shore a few times as well as helped our teammates out to complete it when they got on. We accumulated quite a few visits before we noticed the meg spawning consistently at the end. Then..after that we started doing the golden shore just to test our theory. Yep she showed up every time. (Besides the one I mentioned where we did the same tall tale twice in a row)
As someone nicely pointed out I just threw a random percentage in there lol 98% seemed like a good "every time but one" number ha ha ha
Also I have yet to see a shrouded ghost. My suggestion was to see a meg PERIOD...increasing your chances that RNG would be your friend and it might be the ghost!
But it is nice to know someone is also seeing megs after golden shore it means my theory is right 😁
