Throughout the weeks I've been destroyed by pvp ship battles in adventure mode cause they kill me once and the loading screens to come back take 4 minutes or more each. So my ship's gone/destroyed and when i go to get my stuff, I'm hit with a server merge and everything i go to retrieve is gone with it. My Tall Tales will never be fully complete thanks to this. Also a time warning before server merge would help.
YOUR LOADING SCREEN TIME WHEN RESPAWNING IN A PVP BATTLE IN ADVENTURE MODE ARE MINUTES LONG
Merges happen when a server nears emptiness, and stays for a bit. The ship that you were fighting would be the only other one on the server, so you both get merged into more full ones. A warning could be added, but it also is waiting for you to get out of contact with other ships, which is why fighting ships or allied ships cannot get merged. As for the loading screens, it's the ships that do it. Each ship is a massive physics object with a very complex visual model and collision model, along with hundreds of interactable and moving parts which all have to move smoothly with the ship. My advice is to find a crew willing to help with your Tall Tale adventures, not only are they more fun with other people (most of the time), but they're easier in some aspects.
My friends and I have all noted this.
Cannoning onto islands for supplies? Seconds to respawn
Fell into the water? Np seconds to respawn
Ship left you? Great news! Seconds to respawn!
Any kind of fight..pvp..meg..skelle ship..kraken..etc..go to respawn..takes MINUTES to get back. A lot of times solo my boat sinks before I get back or the water is almost to the top.
I didnt die I just fell off the boat. Even if I did die I payed my punishment waiting in the ferry. Why is the load time quadruple when your fighting :(
@bountyv6 I've not had this problem, yes it takes a bit longer to respawn when there's PvP going on then with non PvP encounters but all in all it's roughly the same. Deffinately not several minutes.
What does happen is that when your ship's gone and you respawn the ship needs to spawn somewhere on the map, the game then takes a decent time to spawn this ship (while you're looking at a loading screen) and then you load into the game (sometimes even next to your old mermaid)
The long load times are due to you losing your ship most of the times.
@x5h3ar3rx @Hynieth I've lost 20 friends to this problem. No it's not from the ship being sunk, the ship's usually still afloat, sinking yes, sometimes with a boarder readily aiming to kill me again.
@bountyv6 You lose friends over loading times? Those are bad friends.
I myself have never had this problem, neither on my SSD nor on my HDD. As Explained only when my ship has already sunk does it take long to load (and yeah that's after the "DING" sound, not after the despawning of the ship).
I know that time can be precieved to flow slowly when you're waiting for something but I can assure you that minutes long loading times (120 seconds at least) can't be true, I have friends on X-Boxes with HDD's who don't load that long during combat.
@Hynieth don't judge my friends, they refuse to play Sea of Thieves , but i play with them through other games. They'll never play Sea of Thieves again.
Some people don't have the patience it takes. It's not the most fast-paced of games, nothing involving ships normally is.

You just stated that you lost friends to a problem in a game.
Might be you just wording this badly but this doesn't mention that they don't play the game anymore but that you outright just lost friends. If you want to be taken seriously maybe not exaggerate.
@hynieth Support told me to come here to get additional help, and this is what i get instead? Insults? I've played since the beginning, and the one time i ask for help, this is what i get?

He's not insulting you.
He's giving you advice on how to form a more concise and accurate argument. When in heavy combat, time seems to move much slower than it actually is,
Try a stopwatch on your phone
Time your loads, man. See if they are actually that long or if you're perceiving time as moving faster because you're in combat. Then, if you're still having severe load time issues, try resetting your router or pulling devices off of your connection.
I was having severe lag earlier and was concerned about server-side issues until my crewmate told me the game was running just fine for her.
If it's not connection issues, then maybe it's something that needs to be addressed; as of now the majority of the player base doesn't seem to be having this issue.

And to be more clear about "severe":
Throwing me off of high places up to 70-100 meters (estimation) from where I originally was in a frame's time causing not inconsiderable fall damage...Frame teleporting through my ship into the water six meters down and fifteen meters from my ship (rough spacial estimations)
Making combat COMPLETELY impossible due to swinging my cutlass and ending up unbelievably off target, aiming my flintlock and being incapable of keeping the enemy in sight long enough to get a shot in.
I took a phone and an iPad off my wifi and eradicated the problem.
Little things really do help.

Support told you to come here because this isn't something they are going to "fix". This is not a new issue. They did an optimization during the first year where everyone had to redownload the entire game. This slightly lowered loading times, but the constant updates since then seem to have driven the loading times higher again.
Basically, your only real option is to buy a SSD. The difference will be pretty amazing. Prior to my SSD, respawning in combat took 30 - 90 seconds from the ferry. And yes, I used a timer. And no, the longer times had nothing to do with the ship being sunk and respawning elsewhere. With the SSD, respawning during combat is under 10 seconds from the ferry.
It may be of interest to note that the ferry time is 30 seconds. That is 30 seconds from when you die (not from when you arrive on the ferry). If you take more than 30 seconds to load the ferry, you will be able to leave as soon as you get there.
@ThatCorbyGuy sadly i have timed it, at it's most was 4 minutes, multiple times i might add, and the least was 2 minutes. I've never had a "10 second" respawn.
I've tried resetting the routers, removing everything from wifi, i even uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Nothing worked. I keep my system cool too so it never overheats. I never experience lag in Sea of Thieves like missed attacked hit boxes though. It’s surprising how many people are just writing this off and your mistake. I have to agree when there is any form of combat the load times are significantly longer. And no, it’s not because my boat has sunk and it’s loading somewhere new because I’ll load right back into the fight. I think this is definitely something that Rare needs to look at, it’s one thing to say “just go buy a SSD” but not everyone can go do that on a whim, and they shouldn’t have to.
On XB1X w/SSD and 6mbps down and only 1 mbps up, wired - and my respawn is almost always 5 seconds unless sunk. Prior to the SSD, it was easily 10x that length of time. It's a massive difference and shows where the problem really is.
Just yesterday, while solo, I was able to board a galleon, set off a GPB in their Captain's Cabin (I heard fire spreads quickly in there; it does, BTW), and proceeded to kill the entire crew 3x over with nothing more than a sword and flintlock (and a handful of meg meat) because of how distracted they were, before they finally defeated me. My way of thanking them for turning in my 6 humble gifts that I left for them. 😅
In bountys defence. If your not having issues or noticed this then we are happy for you. We are glad that you dont sink because your trapped in a black screen. We are happy that you dont have to restart your game to get back in due to long load times, its fantastic that you didnt have to listen to cannon fire, fire crackling, and water leaking in knowing there was nothing you could do :) but please dont dismiss the issue as "it doesnt happen to me so your making it up"
Yes, load times take longer respawning the boat. Yes load times are longer when you first start the game. But when you mermaid or die during an active battle there are times the game takes people out of the fray by trapping them in loading screens and that's what we would like help with.
As for the server merge. I've completed forts and lost it because I moved servers with the key still in hand. I've killed megs, skelly ships and saw the loot fly into space because the loot was still in the water and I didnt get a chance to grab it before being hurled to a new server. I've hid stuff on islands to keep it away from pvpers and lost it all when the merge happened.
So in regards to the loading. All hes asking is to streamline the process so that he can get back to the boat in a timely manner and not have his boat sink due to load times during battles when the load time otherwise is much quicker.
And the server merge..a way to postpone it? MERGEE click postpone run and turn in the fort loot..or at least grab it...get the loot out of the water..get the hidden treasure off the island..THEN merge. If they can add algorithms that move you when your anchor is down or dont move you if your in an alliance they could potentially add something where it allows you to not randomly lose your hard earned gold cuz the fort key was in a Bush on plunder valley instead of in your hand when it happens lol
@bountyv6 I can feel your pain and I understand why you say that.
Support told you to come here because they are not able to fix that issue (since day 1) so they want you to talk with other about it for no reason.... I play since day 1 and I'm inside the insider program and I can tell you that support don't work very well there too, not because they don't really care, but because there's a lack of staff.I've also posted lot of feedbacks & usefull discussion here where it were really easy to fix some stuff in the game, but at the end they didn't be able to do that.
Conclusion: if you play since the beginning as you said, you should know that this isn't something new, so you should start to think about it and to decide if it's time to play other games like your friends do or to accept this and go on. I say that because if it hasn't been fixed in 2 years, I don't think it will be fixed in the future. I personally like the game for what it is, but I can't play it for more than 2 days because I still see many small things that should have already been changed and they aren't so I don't really get enjoyed.
Link below shows a recent post I made so you can understand my feelings too:https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/105531/some-general-feedbacks/2
