Mobile Remote Desktop (iPhone)

  • Hello,
I have been able to successfully play sea of thieves on my iPhone by streaming it from my PC using google Remote Desktop but I cannot simulate key-hold commands (other than pre-mapped mouse clicks).

I can do any command that does not require holding a key down over time to make an action. When I try to use the virtual keyboard on the PC to do a hold-key action ... well I can only do this after I press ESC, I can’t use the on screen PC keyboard during game play. I can only map hold- button for left and right click mouse on my phone ... which I’m using to move and primary item. I tried the accessibility button hold setting and it didn’t help.

Currently I can move, look, use my items, use weapons, do basic F button interactions, purchase and use quests .... I can’t pick up a bottle or lower sails ...

    Question/Help Needed -
Any suggestions? Is there a method to not require holding buttons down in the settings, or to remap the ESC key (this way I could get into the settings and continually remap mouse click for one off instances like lowering sails) or is there maybe some kind of iPhone app that can overlay a permanent keyboard that allows me to do holding down buttons?

  • You can try an app called moonlight if it's compatible. I find it works pretty well with controller, not sure about virtual keyboard (which I would find a very difficult way to play). I think moonlight might only work with nvidia cards, but I'm not sure.

  • @calicorsaircat thank you so much it looks like moonlight might work as I have Nvidia and it looks like moonlight has more advanced on screen buttons ... will test tonight!!

Also it looks like I can remap my ESC key as another button in windows so that I can ingame remap (right) mouse click for one - off button holds ... to use with current google remote

  • @zosu The app can make launching sea of thieves a bit of a pain because the sot executable is kinda hidden. I unfortunately just rebuilt my computer so I can't check to see what mine is without rebooting my old dinosaur, but you can do some searching online to find the actually sea of thieves executable file. Once you find it, you can add this to your list of launchable applications & launch the game from your phone. I'm guessing you are doing in-home streaming?

  • @calicorsaircat I found the moonlight app.

Thx—- I have been streaming from anywhere that I have WiFi connection (works without WiFi but bad input lag). There is almost no input lag on WiFi and the graphics seem better streaming to my iphone 7 than from my Xbox... which reallysurprises me...

Hoping moonlight can interface with the controls better and that it allows me to play from anywhere I have WiFi. The online material shows a decent button overlay for moonlight. Hopefully I don’t need to find the ex’s like you mentioned

Until I get moonlight going ... It looks like I can remap my windows ESC button to a standard key which I can then use to map mouse click for temporary hold button functions using chrome remote. So I should be able to lower sails ... lol... but turning the ship’s wheel might be impractical if I need to remap left and right one at a time to mouse click.

My goal is to be able to play solo on mobile, right now I joined some people and have been able to collect items and kills skellys off my phone

    update
I can now access the keyboard in game for button hold I think ... will test in a few days to play solo 100% off my iPhone using Chrome Remote and also try moonlight

  • @calicorsaircat

I tested moonlight and some other similar apps and they worked great — thanks! I can play on my phone with virtually no input lag and keep up with players clearing a skull fort and doing solo slooping. I can do anything except zoom in on the map...

    iphone mobile

    Question:

    • is there a way to rebind the map table zoom so it’s not mouse wheel?
